-Conventional plastics made of petroleum
-Petroleum is non renewable fossil fuel and huge carbon emission that can cause global climate change

Solution
-production of eco friendly product plastics derived from non-petroleum biomass called bioplastic

Pros 
1. Bioplastics are non-toxic and won’t leach chemicals into food.

2. Plant raw materials are renewable and sustainable unlike oil which is a limited and finite resource.

3. Bioplastics are biodegradable and compostable.
4. Rapidly-growing bio-based economy in Malaysia.

Cons
1. Growing demand for bioplastics creates competition for food sources.

Genetically modified houseplant to remove chloroform and benzene from the air around it.

Ethical Value
-It is unethical to change organism genetics as it disturbs the order of nature.
-The genetically modified plant cannot breed because of this process.

Issue
-ENVIRONMENT : Air pollution. According to the study, the air breathed in homes usually contains more harmful compound than office or school air. Although air filter can be used, some hazardous compounds are too small to be trapped in this filters.
-HEALTH : Small molecules such as benzene and chloroform have been linked to cancer.

Solution
-Researchers of the University of Washington have genetically modified a common houseplant, photos ivy to remove chloroform and benzene from the air around it by inserting  a rabbit gene called CYP2E1  into its DNA.

Pros
-can reduce the concentration of chloroform and benzene almost 100% after certain amount of days.
-reduce cancer rates among people who spend a lot of times at home such as children.
-increase economy by commercialized the house plant

Cons
-it is less effective in a room that has less air flow.
-the houseplant just filter chloroform and benzene only
-the process took more than 2 years which is longer compared to other lab plants.
