Page 135
"When I got to the library, I looked in and saw Len looking out the window. There was a duffel bag on the floor next to him. I went in and said hello. He told me he was going to paint the walls of the library. He asked me if I wanted to cut him to start the bleeding. Thats what he asked, if I wanted to "start the bleeding." I said no. Then he opened the duffel bag and pulled out the Kalashnikov. Thats when I started panicking. I asked him what the rifle was for, and he said to hold off people until he had painted enough signs. I was still freaking out. I said that I didnt want any part of any rifles, and he pointed it at me and cocked it. I wanted to run but I was too scared to move. I thought he was going to shoot me."

Page 137
"I got there just as Carla came through the door. I told her we needed to split big-time. She saw the gun and asked me what I was doing with it. Then Len was yelling down the hall at us and I was trying to pull Carla into the stairwell and she didnt know what was happening so she pulled away. Then Len shot a blast at us and knocked out the glass from a display case. The glass shattered and blew all over the hallway and Carla screamed."

Pages 1- 141
Cameron, Leonard/Len, and Carla were all outcasts at school, coming together and forming a friend group. Cameron and Carla were just your average teens but Len was a mentally unstable person who never got the help he needed. One day Len decided he had enough of all the people who never expected him, especially his classmate Brad Williams. Len convinces Cameron and Carla to help him "stop the violence" not knowing what that really meant to Len. April 22, a day everyone would remember as the day Leonard Gray shot up the school and murdered a classmate.

#6 How does the main character change throughout the book

Pages 1- 99
Cameron Porter was Leonard Grays, and Carla Evans closest friend. All three of these characters were main characters but Cameron was the most relevant in the book, explaining the story of what happened on April 22. The book starts out as an interview and then it progresses into the full school shooting story at the end. At the beginning of Camerons interviews he didn't say much and was still too shaken up to properly answer all the questions. After every interview Cameron opened up more and told the story in more detail, adding on details from his personal life, and Carla and Lens personal lives. At the beginning we knew Cameron as an antisocial person who had a luxurious life at home because of his rich parents, we learn throughout the story that he lives an anxious life dealing with his father. His dad is gone all the time and doesn't understand why Cameron isn't exactly the way he wants him to be. Lashing out at Cameron over anything. And the money meaning nothing because his father doesn't want Cameron having any of it, because Cameron quit the basketball team.

Pages 1- 223
Walter Dean Myers has a very interesting writing style. He changes font for every person because they all have different personalities and POVS. Making some look like messy paragraphs in Lens notebook and others like they were neatly typed at interviews. He also recreates what it's really like in our minds, making the sentences mostly short and jumping from one thought to another, just like our minds do when were overwhelmed. Another thing he does in his writing is that he changes the way each character speaks, the voice is theirs and they all speak and act very differently. With their own font and their own slang you can tell which character is which without having to be told.

Pages 1-223
I really enjoyed the book because it really made you think if its real or not. It has multiple interviews, newspaper articles, police reports, and notebook entries from the shooter. Seems very real, but in reality it's based off of the Columbine shooting. It was very original and didn't just tell you about some school shooting, it told you about the kids backstories and friendships and how their homelife is like. You really knew the character by the end of the book. You could really picture what was happening during the shootings because of the authors vivid description skills and attention to detail.
