During adolescence the individual starts to feel the need to belong to a group. During this period, the development of group cohesion occur.

During the movie we can see this cange of the main character's personality and, therefore, how she changes her friends.
When she was a child, Anna and Stacy used to be friends but during adolescence they both developed different personalities and started to belong to different groups.

Therefore, we thought of these two categories:
Ingroup- People with whom we share a common identity. Outgroup- Those perceived as different or apart from our ingroup.

Ex: Anna and her friends are considered the ingroup, while Stacey and her friends are considered the outgroup.

During the latest years of childhood and adolescence the individual goes through the PRECONVENTIONAL LEVEL of moral development. One of the main characteristics of this stage is that the subject is rooted in a individualistic perspective and their actions are guided for the self-interest.

The main conflict of the movie is that Anna is constantly focusing in her own interests without taking into account her responsibilities.
One example of this is that she is willing to miss her mother's rehearsal dinner in order to be able to participate in the "Wango Tango" auditions.
Another example is the fact that she ruins her mother's book interview without contemplating what it could cause to her carreer.

The desire for more privacy is a natural part of growing up. As teens get older, they begin to face big challenges, like learning what kind of person they are, where they fit in, and what they want to do in life.
As teens grow up, they want to be trusted to do more things than they did were when they were younger. They also want to be thought of as mature, responsible, and independent. Giving teens some space and privacy can work wonders for their development. Not only do they feel trusted, but they also feel capable and confident.

When teens believe their parents have invaded their privacy, the result is often more conflicts at home.

Lack of privacy examples:
1. when the Tess Coleman (the mother) takes the door out.
2. When Anna, who is trapped in Tess' body, tells the patient she must not read her daughter's diary.

Many times the peer's pressure or the need to belong to a certain group influence the decision the invidivual makes.

During the movie, Anna is constantly influenced by her friends' opinions.
An example of this is when Maddie and Peg (Anna's best friends) force her to go to the auditions eventhough she tells them she prefers to stay in the rehearsal dinner.
