Iceland is a bizarre and incredible island: black volcanic rock contrasts with glittering glaciers, and steaming geysers explode into sub-zero air temperatures. During the winter, waterfalls freeze and the Northern Lights dance across the sky. Over the summer you can explore the interior, a true wilderness. This is Iceland: a country like no other.

On the rim of the Arctic Circle, Iceland is one of the most striking places on our planet. Its moniker – the Land of Fire and Ice – is spot on: this frozen landscape is set right on top of a volcanic melting pot, evident in the fountains of scolding water and explosions of molten lava that escape the crust. The result is a landscape of stark beauty.

In the southern part of Iceland, the American tectonic plates are
joined by a bridge. The plates release magma and a large amount of energy is released, which produces geothermal energy. Geothermal energy arises from the moving plates which favor the creation and consequently the release of magma, the latter gives off heat. There are only four geothermal power plants in Iceland.
HOW DO YOU TRANSFORM GEOTHERMAL ENERGY IN ELECTRICITY?
The steam that escapes from the heat is transformed by the turbines into energy, each of these producing 45, 000 megawatts. However, like all things, the use of renewable energy also produces pollution, in this case the magma releases carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide, which corresponds to 3% of what fossil fuels emit.

In 1945,the United Nations Organization (UNO) was created on three pillars! interational peace and security, human rights and development. For the United Nations system, the rule of law means that all persons, institutions and entities, including the State itself, respect and obey laws that are publicly promulgated and equally enforced, and that respect international human rights norms and standards. The law contrasts corruption and limits the abuse of power.it represents the social contract between citizens and the State.

In feudal times, monarchs reigned by divine right. People had only those rights and freedoms that their monarch chose to grant them. The idea of human rights - rights that every human being acquires simply by being born into this world - developed later and took quite a long time to become accepted. Magna Carta - the agreement made by King John and a group of barons in England in 1215 - is often celebrated as an early affirmation of human rights. This is the origin of habeas corpus, a key principle in the Anglo-American legal system, stating that a person cannot be kept in prison unless they have first been brought before a judge to decide if they are guilty.
