         <description><![CDATA[<div>Alcohol affects the body in a variety of ways, most of which are negative.  Many of these side effects begin to appear when heavy or chronic drinking starts.  For example, peptic ulcers can appear in the stomach which cause pain if one drinks too much alcohol regularly.  Furthermore, painkillers, something often used to help a headache after a hangover, actually damage the stomach lining when combined with alcohol.</div>]]></description>

However, the pancreas cannot do its job nearly as effectively when alcohol is consumed regularly.  In fact, pancreatitis is primarily caused by heavy drinking and can even lead to diabetes.</div>]]></description>

However, excessive drinking can result in cirrhosis, a condition in which the liver slowly deteriorates and is unable to function normally due to chronic, or long-lasting injury. This chronic or long-lasting injury is due to the formation of scar tissue forming in the liver after excessive alcohol usage.</div>]]></description>
