Hōne heke was a Influential during the war and was a Maori chief. He was described as intelligent and troublesome. Hōne Heke had a rather interesting part in the battle as his focuses were on taking down a flag in Russel. He also did many more things and was vital part in the history of New Zealand.

Heke had made the flagstaff to represent the flag of The United Tribes Of New Zealand. Back then the flagstaff was significant because it was intended to show that both Maori and British were united and to show peace. The flagstaff is now significant because it shows how much history there is behind what happened after the treaty was signed.

I think Hone Heke has a big name, and is well known for being brave and intelligent but troublesome. I think Hone heke would be looked up to as someone who wanted to do something, and acted based off what he believed in.
