Pizza, Hockey, and The Toy

9 years old.
Sunday afternoon.
Greasy pizza, hockey, dad.
After lunch and fountain pop, we walk into the store.
Hockey on the mind…
Cards in hand.
Checking out, I see it (in fact, there a two)
The yellow card.
The shiny plastic.
The white stick against the blue body…
I had only heard, but never saw.  Is it real?

How such a small thing can change your life.
How such a small thing can seem so right.
Pizza, hockey, and the toy…
How can I ever forget?

Waking up from the bed from which I lain

I stood up groggily waiting for the taxi

The breakfast my mother had made was not good, it was nasty

Unfortunately the taxi passed us by
 
Finally the taxi came ‘round and we filed in

The taxi was about as comfortable as a garbage bin

Finally we arrived at the airport and waited once more, in line

And as we waited through the windows, the sun started to shine  

As we flew off towards America I would see Abu Dhabi for the last time

           God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
    So he put his arms around him and whispered, “come to me”.
           With tearful eyes we saw him suffer.
We saw him slowly fading away. 
Although we loved him dearly and more than anything he had to leave us. 
  We could not make him stay. 
 A golden heart stopped beating all of a sudden. 
A hard working hands put to rest. 
 Our dearly lovely grandfather has gone. 
 He had suffered of sickness till he was gone. 
 He suffered and I heard him tell me “I’m sorry that i’m gone but now I am resting in peace with god”. 
  The golden heart of Jabbar has stopped beating.

I was down into the ground head shaking no idea where I am
It kept swinging and swinging until the mysterious boy called over an adult
I couldn't walk 
Shaking left and right my head feeling like it was just pounded on the face of the moon
I started to see flashing lights and hearing sirens wondering if it was for me
As my eyes rolled back I felt the breeze of the wind as I fell
As i woke up seeing men and women in big white robes wondering where I am and then seeing my family which put tears in my eyes 
I was fed and played and scandal in that mysterious place for 2 weeks with my mother who never left my side
I felt at ease when I was told I could go home

We ran as fast as we could
Time running out
Quickly behind the door, and I make sure my feet aren’t sticking out
My hand clasped over my mouth
My eyes adjusting to the darkness of the room

We heard the countdown
“5,4,3,2…”
“Ready or not here I come!”

My heart leaped out of my chest
Fists tightened to every creak I heard in the floor
And then, in the corner of my eye I see it
A figure coming straight toward my hiding spot

My whole body went limp
And just as the figure was about to look behind the door
A huge crashing noise came from the front room
The figure quickly turned and ran towards the noise

I exhaled a large breath, and quickly moved to a new spot
But, right as I was going to, I feel a hand touch my shoulder
My heart stops
I turn around, and there smiling at me was my sister
She tagged me
I lost the game

The whole team gets warmed up together 
The team goes out on the ice together
The whole team shoots around together 
The Team takes the dub’s together 
The whole team comes to practice the next day to be great together.
End of the season
