         <title>French and Indian War (Seven year war) (1754-1763)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>War between the British and the French, caused by both groups wanting the Ohio River Valley, and wanting conrol of fur trade and rivers. The British won, gained Canada and land west of the Mississippi river, and France lost all land, and Spain gained the rest of the land east of the Mississippi River. British taxed the colonies to pay for the war.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Sons of Liberty led by Samuel Adams and John Hancock, dressed up like Mohawk Indians and dumped 345 chests of tea into the harbor. The British punished the colonies with the Intolerable Acts. The Intolerable Acts were banning town meetings in Massachusetts, closing the Boton Harbor until the tea was paid off, and the colonies had to house British soliders.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Articles of Confederation was the first American Constitiution. The Federal government was very weak. Federalism is the divison of power between the Federal Government and the states, under the Articles of Confederation,  the federal goverment was too weak. The Articles of Confedertion was set up with one branch of government (legislative), a congress with 13 members (the colonies that are states now), and each state gets one vote.<br>SIDE NOTE:<br>Written in 1777, but ratified in March of 1781</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Daniel Shay was a former soilder who was upset about unfair taxes and people who were jailed because they couldn't pay their debt. He led an unprising in Massachusetts that the stare could not put down. It asked for help from the federal government but it could not help- it had no army and no money. It showed the weakness of the federal government's power and weakness of the Artricles of Confederation.</div>]]></description>

         <title>War of 1812 (1812-1815)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The War of 1812, also known as Mr. Madison's war, was a very important war in American history. The battle of Tippencanoe was won by Willian Henry, who became a war hero after defeating Tecumeh (a native american leader), earning the nicknamr 'Tippencanoe'. The British burned down Washington D.C., but Dolley Madison saved important artifacts. At Fort McHenry, Scott Francis Key wrote the famous song "Star Spangled Banner". In the battle of New Orleans, America defeated the British by Andrew Jackson (he became a national war hero). The results of the war were that there was no land gained, national heros arose, we gained national pride, and finnaly american manufacturing increases.</div>]]></description>

They met Sacgawea on this expedition, who served as there guide and interpeter. They documented plants, animals, geography, and tried to established relationships with the Native Americans.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Tennessee Statehood (1796)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before Tennessee became a state,  it was North Carolina, and there was an attempt to seperate from North Carolina and become a state, but it failed. This was called the Lost State of Franklin. To bring people to Tennessee the Treaty of Holston was signed, saying the Cherokee will not mess with the Americans as long as we pay the $1000. John Sevier was the first governer of Tennessee. We mad e a purchase from the Native Americans that adds West Tennessee (includes Memphis). </div>]]></description>
