Since I would be at sea for long periods of time, food and water would be essential. I could only restock once I reach a port, so I would want a large backup supply in case I get lost.

Water is really important to survive. You can survive for a week without food, but without water, you are pretty much dead in a couple of days. This especially applies to the Mediterranean due to the hot weather.

I would bring wheat or barley to trade with merchants or agricultural workers in port cities.

I'd want to bring something to help identify flora and fauna in the Mediterranean area. This would help me find edible plants and animals to eat, herbs for healing, as well as potential goods for trade.
