Lawrence Bittaker, a criminal, rapist, and a serial killer, was interviewed by Laura Brand. He was a sadist who gained satisfaction from young girls' suffering. 
Bittaker with his accoplice, Roy Lewis Norris, kidnapped, raped and murdered five girls in 1979. 
He was sentenced to a term of 45 years to life. Later died at age of 79.
The bodies of two of the victims, Andrea Joy Hall and Lucinda "Cindy" Lynn Schaefer, were never found.</sub>

I recognize the purpose of this padlet: to link the events from the memoir to the events that happen to this day. When we look back on the horrible things that happened in the past, many of us feel disconnected from all of that. Countless Articles of basic human rights were violated during the WW2, it is hard to believe that all of this is still happening nowadays. Of course not in plain sight, hidden away from our eyes.

The truth is that anyone could be targeted at any time. However we cannot really do anything about it. "Ignorance is bliss", afterall.
Of course we can and should do many things for the victims. Support them, help them, shed light on the truth and punish the offender. What I'm saying is that it is extremely difficult for us to defend ourselves against the predators.
