Fusion360

The definition of CAD is computer-aided design. Fusion 360 is used for making 3d models.
One job that uses Fusion 360 is an engineer. An engineer is a person who invents or creates designs or systems. They use Fusion 360 in order to prepare students for inventing things. It is also a good resource for 3d printing to begin with.
Another job that uses this is industrial design. Industrial design is when you make a design in order to prepare for the real item. Fusion 360 is great thing to use for modeling and preparation.
Before this unit started, I didn't think it would be this difficult. I thought it would be much easier to 3d print, but I was wrong. Regardless, I enjoyed the process.
The most challenging part for me was extruding, since I couldn't figure out how to extrude certain parts of the item. After doing the tutorials, I managed to figure out how to do it.
My favorite part of this unit was being able to do the last step, and seeing your project come together.
I believe I could use this when I need items made for myself, and also when I just want to make things for fun. Being able to create anything you want really is amazing.

CO2 Car

The CO2 tank works because of pressure. The CO2 expands, and the temperature increases. This puts pressure on the gas regulator.
We thought many things were important, but the most important to us was the size. We thought that a smaller car would be lighter, which meant more speed. We thought if the car was too big, the wood would have a harder time pushing and going faster.
To me, a successful project is me being happy with what I made. For example, I didn't win the tournament, which yes I do wish I did, but I'm still proud of my car and I'm happy that I did all I knew. Maybe next time I'd make more adjustments, but for the present time I believe I succeeded.
An Automotive Designer works with modeling cars a lot. This job includes things like styling, and improving the works of automobiles. This job is quite similar to what we did, since we designed a car just like they would. Another job like this is Auto body repair technician. This job works on the exterior of cars. This is like what we did after we tested our cars; we improved and repaired any issues we saw. The last job I found that works with cars is a Auto electrician. This job specializes in installing/maintaining electric technology in vehicles. This is a bit more advanced than what we did though, since we made a basic car, while this job makes real cars that run.
My expectations were quite different than I thought. At first I didn't like the idea of this project, since I thought we would have to plan for a very long time. Fortunately, I was wrong, and I got to work with the tools much more than I expected. The most challenging part of the unit for me was sanding. I always wanted to use the big sander, and using the hand sanders, especially with long nails, was quite the challenge. I even removed my fake nails for this unit since they were being chewed up by the amount of sanding I was doing. My favorite part of this unit was being able to work with a friend, and combined our ideas to make a car I was proud of. I really enjoyed this unit, and hope there are more projects like this to come.

Catapult

In our catapult, we have a screw and a lever.
We had to choose between a trebuchet, a mangonel, and a ballista. We chose a mangonel.
Our mangonel specializes in distance, so our main goal was to make our catapult travel far.
There are many ways this information can help us in the future. First, I think I got better with hand held tools, since I had to use a hammer and a drill a lot. I also think I got better at speaking my mind. We went through some disagreements, and I believe I was able to say my opinion, while also listening and respecting my teammate's opinions. Finally, I think I was able to just see how catapults work in general, and this competition seemed much more interactive than the last one and helped me to be focused on wining.

Mit ai2 app inventor is a block based program, and it is an intuitive, visual programming based way to make apps.
Mit ai2 app inventor is compatible with Androids of operating systems 2.3 or higher. It can be used on different android chrome books, laptops, and phones.
I would define an application as a software program developed to accomplish computing tasks.
One job that involves using apps like Mit ai2 app inventor is an app designer. This career creates programs/apps for things like smartphones, laptops, tablets, etc. This has to do with app design since they are the ones making and creating the apps.
Another job that includes app design is a senior product manager of app design. This job. This career leads product managers while being one of the head leaders of the company. This has to do with app design because if you're a senior product manager for app design, you will be leading the product managers who work on the app designs.
Before this unit started, I expected it to be more complicated. I thought there would be more things than blocks, like maybe specific codes that need to be typed out.
The most challenging part for this unit was making sure I could keep up with all the details for the blocks, because if I made a mistake I would have to go back and fix it completely.
My favorite part of this unit was the feeling of finishing up the last blocks and being able to test out my app. It was really fun seeing how all the blocks worked together to make a functioning app.
Every job nowadays has an app. It is important to know how apps work, in order to be able to figure out how to properly help your consumers or work through your job properly.

The goal of this project was to create a waterslide that can bring a ping pong ball from start to finish.
The slide had to be at least 10 seconds long, and our resources cost money.
Our budget was $15,000
One job that relates to this project is a construction intern. This job involves on-site training that involves things like team building. This involves our projects team working skills and building skills.
Another job that relates to this project is a director of engineering. This job involves directing activities that have to do with aspects of engineering. This job relates to the development and rough draft part of our project.
Finally, another job that relates to this project is an architectural designer. This job involves planning the layout of building designs. This job relates to the building design process of our project.
I expected this project to turn out much differently than it did, since our final result didn't end up looking much like our rough draft.
Our project seemed semi-successful. The end result ended up looking like how I wanted it, but at the same time it just wasn't balanced enough and ending up falling apart.
Our challenges were with balance. We didn't end up getting one of the thicker wooden rods so the thin ones had a lot of trouble holding our structure up and keeping it stable.

I didn't expect the class to be like this. I expected more planning and drafts for our projects.
My expectations changed since we only took a day or two to plan, then we got right into the project. But I really enjoyed this way of working.
My favorite unit was either the catapult unit or the app design. I loved these because the catapult gave me an opportunity to work with wood and more of the power tools, which is what I liked the most. I also really liked the app design because I did coding in Stem 7, and I really enjoyed it. I like seeing the game come together, it was really interesting to me.
I felt most comfortable working in the shop with the hand drawn drafts. I prefer seeing things in person in front of me. It made it easier for me to envision how the final result will look like.
My least favorite unit was the waterslide unit. I think I was just unprepared for it, and my draft wasn't an accurate representation of my final product.
I believe that looking into the careers shows how this skill can really benefit you in real life. It opens you to the different skills possible in the world, and you may even get a new interest.
I think out of all careers I researched, I would most likely be a electrical engineer. I would do this because it is the job my dad and my older brother do, and since my dad works at a university, I have seen what he works with. I really liked all the projects he's worked on, so I think this job would be the easiest for me to get into.
I really enjoyed Stem this year, and I think I would love to continue this in high school.
