It had spacious rooms, high ceilings, fireplaces, and balconies, and a wide oak staircase to the second floor. A sweeping panorama of the water and the city lights beyond was available from every room." This description of the house really gives you a feeling of what the house is like and how grand and luxurious it was. It really helps you understand how these people are living their lives and the money that they have. If they were poor I'm not sure that they would really have a house that sounds so fancy and rich as this house is. What I would find that would be really annoying is to go out to eat with someone and to meet them for the first time and they were just on the phone or the phone is ringing all the time. The most elaborate meal she could think of was individual Beef Wellingtons, along with a baked potato casserole and fresh young asparagus shoots. The salad was a special recipe from the Food Channel, with greens, blue cheese, and roast spiced pecans. She blew a good third of her monthly food budget on this meal alone but it would be worth it." Grace really describes this meal very detailed and very high-end sophisticated. I'm wondering what it's going to be worth it in the end to spend so much money and to have this really elegant dinner. To begin again...But her hands shook as she picked up the pen."  If you're sitting in a divorce office with your daughter then it must mean that something has come between the couple. But from experience from the other books, I know that her husband ran away and has been missing for five months. There have been little glimpses of him and no one has ever really come to find him, so divorce is really the best possible option for Grace. A half hour later, she was rushing out the door, about to ward off an emergency concerning the new choir robes at church. Somehow their order had gotten switched with that of another church, somewhere in Florida." Rosie is rushing around everywhere she does a lot of housework around the house, she cooks meals, she runs PTA meetings and she runs the church choir. She has so much going on in her life and she needs to slow down and take a little time for herself and not running around catching her two kids and husband before they go to different activities. Evergreen boughs were strung along both sides of Harbor Street and large festive candy canes hung from streetlights. The gallery itself was decorated with tiny white lights and elegantly draped swags of spruce that scented the air. It was the smell of Christmas to Maryellen, the smell she associated with childhood holidays-- and with her father." The town of Cedar Cove sounds like it was really nice at Christmas time and they really had a lot of holiday spirit. It must be hard for Maryellen to know and recognize all of these things that she's to look at with her dad who now has gone missing and her mother is divorced from. Maryellen must be feeling very lost without her dad and knowing that he's not going to come back because he doesn't care about them anymore must hurt pretty badly. Jack had put in late hours all week and been at the office nearly nonstop the entire weekend."  It must be hard to have a new husband that you just got home from your honeymoon and he's thrown into work and 24/7 is just working and then you have to work on top of that. It must be crazy all around the house especially in the mornings getting ready for work, and then at nights just being tired of a full work day. Once you come from a paradise, for example, Hawaii, and then you get thrown right into a full, jam-packed work week must feel really tough. They must be frustrated that they don't get to spend any time with each other and they want to enjoy their company, but they can't do that from the places that they work. For a number of years now, the Chamber of Commerce had sponsored Concerts on the Cove bringing in a variety of free entertainment, from pop groups to jazz quartets. Tonight was an Irish band, with fiddles and one of the Celtic drums- Charlotte couldn't remember what they were called. The concerts brought almost the entire town together once a week, as young and old alike crowded the small Waterfront Park enjoying the festive atmosphere. Before he came to collect her, Ben had bought their dinner, teriyaki chicken and rice from her favorite takeout restaurant. Walking hand-in-hand he carried their folding chairs while she held onto their food." The Concerts on the Cove sounds like the Sundaes in the Park that we have in the summer in the bandshell. The people who want to come can come and can socialize with their family or friends. People can walk or they can drive and they can bring chairs, blankets, drinks, food, whatever they want to. It's a great way to see your teachers in the summer and your friends who you haven't seen in a while. I would think that it would be beautiful to live right on a cove and have the air and sun always nurturing your plants. It would be such a bloom of color every spring when the flowers come up. Shock waves went through Grace. This was news. Big news. No wonder Stan had been coming to Cedar Cove more frequently. His visits were often under the guise of seeing his daughter, Justine, and his grandson who'd been born a little more than two weeks ago. Grace found his sudden interest in family somewhat suspect. Especially since Stan had deserted his wife and children back in the summer of 1986. Jordan, a bright, lively 13 year old had gone swimming with friends one hot August afternoon and drowned. Justine, his twin sister, held his lifeless body in her arms until the paramedics arrived. Everything in Olivia's life was marked by that day; it was the dividing point, the boundary between believing the world was a safe place and knowing it could be a treacherous one." It must be awful to know that your twin brother just drowned to death and while waiting for the paramedics to arrive just holding the body that once was your brother. You know that you two will never have another fight, will never swim together again, and most importantly never talk to each other again.
