The blueberry bushes were planted under this chicken wire, but after some storms the wire collapsed onto itself, creating quite an uncomfortable maze to work through when blueberry picking. This reminded me of how it felt to do the interview; it required diving into uncomfortable places, working my way through gently but thoroughly with my interviewee. They hold so many symbols, including wisdom and perseverance. All of the challenges they face become part of their story, visible on their exterior. The bottom tree with the twisted trunk reminded me of how it felt to be so connected with another person; to feel stronger after talking to them, to feel like I had gained more strength and wisdom through our interactions.
