In Nunavut, there are not a lot of qualified ECE workers. ECE quality experiences is very important especially in Nunavut because lots of people would love to work but since there are not a lot of childcare centres in Nunavut, some just become Stay At Home Mom while groceries and daily needs are very expensive. Also, due to lack of qualified staff, some child care centres closes. ECE has “the power” to encourage connections between children and their families by fostering positive relationships and community engagement. (Rosa Lynn)

Why is quality ECE experience so important for the future of Nunavut?

In Nunavut there are not so many daycare workers qualified and dont have experience.

We need more of qualified educators in our Nunavut and keep our Inuktitut alive same with being teachers as will. I’m a single mother of 8 if i can go college and learn about ECE so can you. We need more Inuit woman to join our team and accomplish as a ECE worker at daycares.

ECE in Nunavut is important because not a lot of the workers are qualified to work in ECE setting and dont have experience working with children. But it is different from a staying home with children as we are caring for the children that is not ours, and we are paid to look after them when the parents are working or have other responsibilities, it is also different then being a teacher as we need more staff as they are younger and needs more attention then older kids. Working with children needs to be stable, have patience, and have confidence to work with young children.

It is important to have qualified diploma with ECE as teaching the children in a daycare is important and with no qualification its like they don’t kind of know what to teach unless the worker teach the worker how to do it unlike just going with the flow like not just watching the children, as its important to teach the children in a daycare.
