- he comes across as different
- originally they stereotype as a hot and normal teacher however he has strong ethic beliefs (for example when he yells at the girls for torturing Ms.Vanderwerp "[the girls are] insulated by privilege")
- later in the novel after he tells the girls off, the girls mess with him, for example they tell their parents he puts the hot girls in the centre of the room to watch them etc. Lucy realises this is wrong and tell Mrs Grey the truth.
- at the end of the novel he surprises Lucy when she apologises for swearing at him. he ends up laughing and tell her that those girls deserved it and that she is more of a decent person than them
- the conflicts between mr Sinclair end when he nominates lucy for the valedictory speech
