The sun was shining brightly, and the air felt warm and dry as we traveled. The bus moved slowly, and I could see the landscape behind us disappearing, replaced by big golden sand dunes. My friends were laughing and talking, and music was playing softly in the background. When we arrived in Ica, I could saw The Huacachina “We made it to Ica!” I said, feeling so happy. At the Huacachina oasis, the water looked beautiful, reflecting the orange and pink colors of the sunset in the afternoon. Later, we sat at a small restaurant and drank pisco sours while enjoying the cool evening breeze. I felt so relaxed, like all my worries had been left behind. At night, the sky was full of stars, shining so brightly. It was a simple but unforgettable moment.

She cracked her voice and added, "This is it." A million little hammers seemed to be banging on my skull as my chest constricted. When I attempted to speak, my words fell like shards of glass, useless and jagged.

The chilly air pricked my skin as I left. The rain pattered my face like tears I was unable to shed. The streets were as deserted as a deserted house, and they went on forever.

I traced her name on the chilly metal armrest of the bench where we used to giggle. My hands were as frigid as ice. It seemed like returning home to a place I had never been to before a place that had once seemed alive but was now quiet and empty.

It was a summer in the year 2024, my brother and I accompanied my dad to work. They offered him a job in Camana with a house included. When my dad finished work we walked near the shore.

The next day we went to the beach to enjoy the waves and see how other families were having fun. In my family it is customary to bring food from home so as not to spend money on the beach, in that case my dad ordered 2 large plates of squid chicharon, if that plate cost.

It was a bright sunny day, and my family and I were excited to visit the zoo. As a little girl, every animal felt like a character from a magical story, and I couldn’t wait to meet them.

When we reached the monkey enclosure, I was enchanted by their lively swings and cheerful chatter. They seemed so playful, and I couldn’t resist leaning closer to the bars, ignoring my mom’s cautious warnings.

One monkey, with curious, sparkling eyes, moved towards me. I smiled, thinking it wanted to play. Suddenly, it reached through the bars and grabbed my hair, pulling it hard, shocked, I stumbled back as my heart raced wildly.

Tears filled my eyes, but I quickly understood the lesson, animals in zoos aren’t toys or decorations; they’re living creatures deserving respect and space. From that moment, I always kept my distance.

When my brother was 6, something funny happened during a walk with our parents in the city center. We found a small, colorful ice cream shop that looked very cozy. The tables were painted in bright colors, and there were metal bars at the entrance. My brother, being curious, stuck his head through the bars to look inside. When he tried to pull it back, he got stuck. His ears were squished, and his face looked scared. My parents quickly tried to help, pulling gently but getting nervous. After a while, they finally managed to free him, but his ears were red. It was scary at the moment, but now we laugh about it whenever we remember.

During my first important presentation at school. The auditorium was full of students, their voices heard like bees. My heart was racing and I felt like butterflies were flying in my stomach. I thought the stage was as high as a cliff. When I went on stage, the bright light shone in my eyes. I was nervous. My friends and my teacher helped me be calmer. Before, I was shivering as a jelly, I felt very cold as Antarctica. My voice shook at first but then became calm and steady. I felt proud and happy when I saw my friends smiling. I had overcome my fear.

I visited a dog shelter for the first time. It was a very noisy place, but I was happy to hear the dogs barking.

The shelter didn't smell bad, it smelled like sweet shampoo, maybe banana-scented. My cousin told me it was a magical place, and it really was, because when the dogs looked into your eyes, you could see the happiness and gratitude.

Many dogs had been treated badly, but now they were happy and safe. I felt very sad and very happy at the same time. I just wished that all the dogs could have a happy ending to their sad stories

I arrived in Cusco early in the morning and when I got off the plane I felt the air cold and different as if I was a little short of breath but it wasn't uncomfortable just strange the airport was full of excited tourists and I was no exception I took a taxi to the center and as I walked through the streets I saw houses with red tile roofs and mountains that seemed to surround everything when I got to the Plaza de Armas I was impressed by how big and beautiful it was there were colonial buildings the cathedral and many people walking or taking pictures I decided to eat something light because I had been warned about altitude sickness I found a small cafe where I ordered a coca tea and a bread with cheese the tea was hot and had a mild flavor but I felt that it really helped after I walked through the San Blas neighborhood the streets were steep and stone and there were many craft shops with colorful things like ponchos bags and ceramic figures later I went to Sacsayhuamán the stones were huge and I couldn't understand how they had placed them so perfectly from there there was an incredible view of the city I sat for a while just looking and breathing the fresh air at the end of the day I returned to the hostel tired but happy Cusco had something special as if it were a mix between the old and the modern and I knew that I still had a lot to discover.

Last week, I went to the gym feeling very excited. I started my workout and did all my exercises, lifting heavy weights and using machines. Everything was going well until, suddenly, I dropped a big weight plate on my foot. The pain was sharp, but I was too shy to show it in front of everyone, so I pretended nothing happened.

When I got home, my mom saw me walking funny and asked why I was limping. I told her everything. It was a painful day, like coming home after a long trip, but I will never forget it.

It was a summer afternoon, I was at the grandmother’s garden, where there was that old mango tree as big as a oak-tree with thick branches, for me everything seemed big, I was only 8 years old. With small but determined hands, I gripped the trunk. The bark, rough and cracked, scratched my palms, but my excitement drove me onward. I climbed carefully, but before I could reach the top, I felt a crunch, the branch gave way and I fell immediately, tears gathering in my eyes, not so much because of the physical pain, but because of the fright and shame. My grandmother came to me to give me comfort, and said "I told you not to go up so high."

Whispers and Shadows: Farewell to Our Boarding School Days - YESELY ANSHELIC ARÉSTEGUI MAMANI

On that heartrending final day at the COAR boarding school, the dawn broke with a melancholy that seeped through the silence, far from the spirited chaos of our usual mornings. The abrupt flicker of lights at 5 AM struck our eyes with an intensity that was sharper and more unforgiving than ever before, illuminating the somber faces of girls who, on any other day, would have dashed to the showers like a stampede of horses eager for the race. Today, however, their steps were laden with a heaviness, each move as deliberate and slow as a turtle’s cautious trudging through sand.

The breakfast that awaited us tasted unusually sumptuous, as if we were rediscovering the delight of a long-forgotten favorite meal. Murmured conversations filled the corridors, echoing the earlier declarations made during times of relentless academic pressure—that no tears would be shed on this day. Yet, the air was thick with a brewing storm of emotion, much like the quiet before a tempest, where the heart swells with a sorrow poised on the edge of release.

The anxiety that had been a constant undercurrent through our years here took on a more profound, almost pathological form. Each part of our daily routine, previously performed with mechanical disinterest, now carried the poignant significance of a last performance. I felt as adrift as a ship lost at sea, the vast ocean of the future lying before me, daunting in its boundless possibilities.

On the basketball court, where we had fiercely competed every day, our games took on the gentleness of a friendly match, each moment deliberately savored, as if trying to capture and preserve every second in our memories. Our chatter, usually light and carefree, now resonated with the gravity of those recounting their greatest adventures at the twilight of their lives.

As the day drew to its inevitable close, even the strongest among us began to show their softer hues, their final words tinged with an intensity of feeling that transformed their stoic masks. Saying goodbye was like watching the slow fade of a vibrant sunset, each streak of light a lingering note of our shared experiences, painting a bittersweet picture of the ties we must leave behind. The air was filled with a mixture of laughter and tears, a vivid testament to the depth of our bonds and the pain of parting.
