The writer uses alliteration and pairs of adjectives to descibe his pity and feelings for the people in the park for example 'Degration and despair ' and ' forlon and foetid' the writer uses powerful vocaburly to really emphasis his words 'foetid' meaning real foul-smelling is used to really exagerate on the bad smell that is in the air. His view on the smell is that it is foul. His view on the 105 is that they are forlorn. Connatations of forloun are helpless, depressed, pathitic and lonely. The word despair shows conoations of a simple form of pitty and sorrow therefor backing up the point about how his view points on the poor consist of sympathy towards their situation and feels the urge to help them.
