I am going to adapt it to this task. I think it could be interenting for a quite wide range of ages. My 13 year-old students love it. In our country we call it Memory game. Select about 10 different newspaper articles. Divide the headlines from the body of each article. In class, the teacher would set the articles on a table facing down. On the left side only the headlines, and on the other the bodies. Once the students are set into two groups they wil take turns to turn around a piece of paper on one side and a piece on the other. Once their are facing up they will have to check if the headlines match with the body. If not, the students would have to put them facing down again. As yo can see Headlines halves is the one I liked the most, as regards it invites the students to do an something many of them don´t do anymore, such as playing. ]]> 2022-04-23 14:26:19 UTC https://padlet.com/albozzani/k3gdrdj7xseh05ac/wish/2154595962 “Categories” and “Me in headlines” Agustina Rigolon rigolonagustina https://padlet.com/albozzani/k3gdrdj7xseh05ac/wish/2155414292 I combined two tasks that I really liked, which can be amusing and fruitful for learners.
Taking into account the “Categories” activity, as a lead-in, I would ask the students what their interests and hobbies are. In order to connect their personality with newspapers, I would explain to them that the latter are divided into sections that respond to people's interests (such as politics, economics, sports, entertainment, technology, turism, etc).  Then, I would encourage them to tell me which newspaper section/s they would be more interested in by showing them a poster with the different sections that they will have to fill. Next, I would show them a headline collage previously made by me that represents my personality, and explains to the students why it is relatable to me. Next, I would stick  it on the corresponding category of the poster.
Now is their turn: each student is given a newspaper to browse and find headlines, articles, phrases or words that represent them. They cut and paste them on a sheet of paper creating their own collage. Once they finish, they have to explain and discuss their collages with a partner. After a few minutes of the first exchange, they will change partners. The activity continues for as long as the students keep motivated. To wrap up, each student sticks the collage on the correct category of the poster.
Summing up, “Me in headlines” is a highly interesting activity since it’s applicable for different English levels (the headlines and discussions would depend on the grammar and lexis they’ve learned). Besides, it’s a really communicative task since the students would share personal information with their classmates through collages made by them, which makes it a meaningful task.

Who hasn´t played it before? It is a game that most of the students know so it can be helpful to low anxieties and to give all the students the opportunity to participate and have fun meanwhile they are learning. So, it is a win to win. 
The activity consist of selecting 2 or 3 short articles with their headlines. Headlines has to be cutted out and teacher saves them for latter. Then teacher pastes those 2 or 3 numbered articles on a sheet and gives a copy to each student of the class. 
After that, the teacher explains that students have to read the 1st article and they have to say words that they believe belongs to the suitable headline. 
So, teacher writes on the board  as much lines as words have the headline and then students start to play the game. 
If the word is correct teacher writes it down on the correct place but if it is not, teacher will start drawing a part of the hangman. This procedure will go on until the headline is complete or the man is hanged up.

As students will not know the answer until they all finish, they will be engaged in the task in order to reveal answers. Besides, once they finish the task, they will be awarded of how to predict information about the article by understanding the headline.

As an extra activity, I would let them predict an article (by giving them hints) and write it down on their notebooks. Once they have finished, I would read the article so they can check if they made right predictions and if not, encourage them to create a text or paragraph using previous predictions (adapting to different levels or grammar items).

On the other hand, "Me in headlines". I would like to use this activity. It's interesting not only for them, but also for us (teachers), because they will talk about themselves (personality or experiences) which means we will learn a little more about them. Moreover, as they will be creating and decorating their headlines (using poster, images) we can play music as a way of making a comfortable environment or helping with creation.
