I was SO DISAPPOINTED that we couldn't socialize with the Deaf! It's lovely to see Deaf adults expressing themselves so generously because they do not have fear of disrupting the play in quite the same way most hearing folks do. I was very happy to converse briefly with a Deaf man who was excited about his sweatshirt and wanted to chat about it for a while.

it was amazing to see that the deaf people were standing up signing to each other. The children were so cute, and the teacher kept signing them to be patient. Also it was cool to have the gentlemen come upfront and interpret the speaker at the beginning. they were also very loud. I realized that the plain back grounds were for the signs, so it was easier to pay attention to the signs same with black shirts

There were a couple of Deaf people behind me and my friends that were signing really fast and it was cool to watch, but I felt like it was almost rude to do that. It was cute to see the kids getting excited. I was disappointed that we couldn't mingle with the Deaf Adults. I loved hearing the Deaf laugh, it made me happy and want to laugh with them. My friends and I just sort of signed everything we spoke without thinking. It was cool, THANK YOU!!!!

While I was sitting there waiting for it to start I heard the ASL 1 kids behind me saying they weren't going to understand anything and then when it started they kept talking and didn't pay attention to the play so they kept talking and didn't watch the signs because they could hear what was going on and didn't need to watch which I found disrespectful. It was cool to be able to sign to my friends in public without getting weird stares from people.

One MAJOR thing I saw was how much more contact is used in Deaf culture. People would tap on waists or squeeze arms and it looked so casual, whereas in our culture it'd be weird. I saw that even in Deaf schools, the kids get rowdy and cut each other off while signing. I noticed kids with CRAZY facial expressions, jumping around and signing to all their friends, and in the middle of the story a friend would grab the signers hands and take over the story. I noticed that even though they were deaf, the kids shreaked and jumped around like i said, but they were always so acute to if someone started signing.
