At the beginning of the vaccine rollout there wasn't enough supply to keep up with the demand of everyone that wanted to be vaccinated. Because of the immense amount of funding the governments put into vaccine labs through bi-lateral deals this was the fastest vaccine to come to market ever. Because of the amount of money that the US put into vaccine manufactures and labs thet are actually contributing to inequality. I watched an amazing video on my rich countries are actually making the pandemic last longer. Because the rich countries have so much more moey to invest in many different vaccine companies they can invest in many different oens early on, and if they dont come to market then oh well, but if they do then they are 1st in line to receive enough vaccines to vaccinate their entire population from each company. This means that the poorer countries are in the back of the line for the vaccine. Welcome to my first Oasis log. Oasis is "the first social media platform built by developers for developers". Oasis is an open-source project that 3 others and I are lead maintainers of. We are currently ending a large migration away from Firebase and Vercel to a VPS on AWS with PostgreSQL, Redis, and a custom Next.JS server. I have been working on Oasis for many hours a day, it is almost a full-time job at this point. I mainly handle the API and Web integration, but in the future, I will handle the bot-client and the markdown parser with emoji support. So, future me, How did Oasis go? Did it ever come to fruition? Are you still a lead maintainer? Hopefully, the answer to all those questions was yes. I got the inspiration for the name OasisLog from Ben Awad who makes DogeLog. We are currently working on getting an MVP shipped by May 31st but you will be able to tell me if that indeed happened. Currently, we are on commit 1,738 but that will definitely go up by tomorrow.
