Gender norms bring weight and expectations in society that is uncontrolled. Boys are only allowed to play with trucks and girls play with dolls. This can cause a detrimental impact on our future. Children look up and our grown up in a gender norm society, and this limits children's potential.

Gender Expression

A person's family, community and society all have a major factor in presenting gender fluidity more and more either in a negative or positive way.

Same sex marriage was hated and a major topic for many years and past years in our history. Can two people of the same gender marry one another? And now in 2015 supreme court made the decision that same sex marriage cannot be banned in any state. This cause a major relief on everyone, and some are still distraught and stuck with past ways.

Heteronormativity

Homosexual/gay is the attraction to same sex. In this short story it does a great representation of what homosexuality is. The boy is unable to ignore what his heart truly feels but he is also scared of other finding out and what they would think. This is a common problem with coming out and finding your true self.

Polyamory

Polyamory is when one has more than one intimate partner at a time with knowledge and consent of all involved. Gold, Robert, and Robert Gold. Polyamory is becoming more of a common thing in today's age, but older generations do not feel the same way. Spouses might typically find something missing in their relationship and convert to a polyamory relationship to fill that missing gap.

The Hays code is an example of the 1934-1968 Motion Picture Production Code. The Hays code prohibits excessive use of sex, drug use, and so much more. This helps extremely especially for women feeling victimized and sexualized.

In the earlier films women where always wearing tight clothes, looked dumb, and used as a sex symbol. But through women's movements it has changed, one thing that came up is the Bechdel test. This test asks if it has to have at least two women in it, who talk to each other, and talks about something besides a man. And based on these questions if yes, it is a successful women included film.

LGBTQIA+ Community in Film

The Vito Russo Test is a test created to measure if a film contains relevant LGBTQIA+ members. The requirements are that the films contain a character that is identifiably lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgender. That character must not be solely or predominantly defined by their sexual orientation or gender identity. And lastly the LGBTQ character must be tied into the plot in such a way that their removal would have a significant effect.

Gender representation in media has changed a lot. Women are mainly represented as sexual icons and something pretty to look at, but now days women are starting to be seen as strong and power full. Men in media where seen as strong and independent, but now men can show more emotion. Media can be good and bad for gender representation.

3 types of gazes

There are 3 types of gazes in this sequence gazes that look at someone or something just beyond the screen, gazes that are averted, and gazes that break the fourth wall, looking directly at the viewer and each affects the viewer differently. These gazes cast attention to these characters, and it was mainly men, never women. The former is a controlling gaze based in control and punishment, and is based in a type of reassurance.
