- sci fi wasn't taken serious 
- begins in a small town then goes around the world
- real martians come down to earth and bombs and tanks couldn't stop them

- had heart and soul in the movie
Martians: The War of the Worlds
- failed to populate/invade Earth so they went to Venus
-  the Martian's were bear sized, has no skeleton, crawl around, only has head and tentacles, breathed oxygen, internal body is a huge brain, no digestive system, don't need sleep, they are ancient species from dying planet, asexual, emotionless, focused all the time on work for getting their prey, have heat rays and black smoke

Well's The War of the Worlds over a live radio broadcast, but in an adapted form that made it seem like it was actually happening in the present moment.
-It seemed like a real alien invasion was occurring, and that the world was at an end.   
-Chaos arose; everyone was tuned in and thousands of listeners called the police. 
-Fear spread across the towns and people began to panic.
-It sparked a placebo effect, and people began to report that they saw lights in the distance and could smell poisonous gas.

-martians begin in a small town, then go on to conquer the whole world
-scifi movies were more popular in the 1950s post WWII
-martians in the movie were given force fields, can't even be killed with an atomic bomb
3. Martians: The War of the Worlds
-extraterrestrial beings trying to conquer the earth
-martians are capable of telepathy as form of communication
-large brains, no digestive systems, need blood from other beings to survive, don't sleep, mostly head and fingers
-anchient species from a dying planet
-technologically advanced, heat rays, black smoke, tripod vehicles which resemble themselves
-a dark reflection of humanity, work is their only concern

They played it out in real time even using real locations. They switched the locations from England to the U.S. They gave the warning that it was a play but not everyone heard it. 
The 1953 Movie- They used it to play out the fears of Russia attacking the U.S. because the cold war was going to/ already taking place. And Sci-Fi was not taken seriously.
Martians: The War of the Worlds- They went into deeper detail. Long Legs, No need to eat or sleep, Survive through blood transfer, limited telepathy, massive heads, three legged/ tentacled, unknown true origin, no apparent skeleton. Total disregard for life

Around 6 mil people heard it and close to 1 mil believed it! It sent people into a panic causing many to take up arms and head to the streets to fight. The broadcast itself took place in real time and included many real places in towns.
B) Review- When the martians attacked they were not at first invincible and many people managed to take one down and destroy it. Mans efforts to fight back were very futile. Transportation vehicles were trapping people and keeping them.
C) Martians- Have no digestive process
Huge Brain
Breathe oxygen
Lack emnotions
Inject victims blood into veins
Work in groups
Telepathic abilities

-The martians launched themselves from Mars to take over Earth.
-They do not have bones, they crawl around with tentacles. 
-In order to communicate, they use their telepathic abilities.
