I love that AVID trainings always provide opportunities to improve my craft and to become a better facilitator. I felt nervous at the beginning of the two weeks. I'm still a little nervous after the technology survey :); however, I feel that we have already created a support system. I appreciated being challenged in my thinking. I have also appreciated all of the discussion opportunities.

This felt like an AVID training. It was backed with research, strong facilitation, and engaging content. None of it felt forced. It did not feel like a pivot. It felt like this was something completely new, and it was done with fidelity. I appreciated working with Staff Developers who I have not worked with in the past. I really liked getting input from people who were not from my implementation strand. The recommended book was a great compliment to the course. Julie did a great job building positive relationships from the start and modeling what digital facilitation should look like. Thank you!

I am actually feeling very much the way I do when preparing for F2F training in a non-pandemic year. I really didn't know what to think about how this would go, or even what to expect really. I have that excited/nervous feeling, like my first SI season when I struggled with imposter syndrome (still do usually), but at the same time wanted to get started right away. I feel like the syllabus for this training was just what I needed to prepare a foundation as we move to the next steps and get going on our teachbacks and then on in to SI season. At first I thought the focus on theory was a strange choice, I was thinking more practical use of online tools, but now I am so glad that we started here. I have new knowledge that will help me in a virtual setting, but also in a F2F setting.
Thank you so much, everyone! I'll see you out there.

I love that NK said "this felt like an AVID training". It did! The foundation in Salmon's research and the practice with invitational posting resonated with me. I think there's so much to learn about online facilitation, and I've only scratched the surface. But at the same time, I've started to build a network of practitioners to share ideas with. Thank you!

Julie - thank you for modeling best practices for guiding this process. I'm starting to feel confident in my role as the guide on the side.

Thanks for the opportunity!! There has been some good learning/reminding that launched me into some deep reflection :-) All industries are experiencing the digital shift as well as a face-to-face shift as consumers, family members, friendships, etc. I think the big shift ultimately will be that the end user is now the starting point of most conversations I hope that lasts!! The pacing of this AVID work was good - very manageable. I am looking forward to what is next (not sheepishly peaking around the corner :-)

These have been two weeks of good learning each day. I feel like this training fits perfectly in line with the quality of other AVID training experiences I have had over the years, and I like how Julie was consistently modeling the strategies that we were learning and practicing. I also appreciate how slight adjustments were made along the way to meet the needs of this group. This may sound strange, but I could feel the AVID learning process throughout these days and I can't wait to move to the next step in preparation for working with participants, who I know will have different levels of apprehension about moving to the XP format. By the way, it was not just Julie who modeled things so well. I have enjoyed working with Group A!

I have already put many of my new learnings into practice as my team is developing training for our teachers and leaders this summer. I realized it takes a lot more time and mental energy to engage in a virtual training. I find myself exhausted at the end of the day because we are thinking differently and having to be more mindful than before. However, that is a good thing. Me and my team are becoming more aware of our body language and how that may be seen by participants. Thank you for this amazing experience. I am excited to be on this new journey.
