To me the American Dream is about finding who you are and being able to feel free when you go out. It is where I get to express who I am and what I want to be without being judged or stereotyped just because I am a woman. We get to have a good job and being able to provide for our families without having to worry about money or if we're going to get sent back from where we came from. The American Dream is being able to be accepted into a community where you feel like you don't belong. It should make us feel safe and supported by the government and others around us.

This song explains my thesis because it is talking about a boy with a big dream and when he accomplishes his dream he never wants to go back to where he was before his dream. "Well, Nation grew up and got himself a big reputation
Couldn't keep the boy at home no, no." In this song a boy who had a dream and made his dreams real but when the economy comes down he doesn't care he just wants to be happy. This is related to my thesis because once people start making their dreams reality they start to get selfish and only think about what's good for them instead of the people around them also. "When the Nation fell down they argued who was to blame and Nation if you'll just come home we'll have this family again." This quote from the song is an example of how people start to act when they can't get out of their head and just see what's best for them.

This video is describing how long the American Dream has been alive for and how it has developed over the years. The colonists and the Puritans both came because they saw land and saw an opportunity to start a new life. They move down west because of the gold rush and start to find new beginnings. Once they developed more over the years they set their dreams higher. Their dream was to get rich and party that led to the great depression. Their dream has now changed they only wanted to have a well paying job to provide for their families, they let go of all the party stuff because of that it put them in great debt. Their dream was to provide for yourself and family and to be comfortable that was now everyone's American Dream and has remained like that over the years.

My interview is based on my mom's American Dream. When my mom was growing up she had a hard life, she grew up surrounded by gangs and lived in poverty. She and her siblings were put into foster care at a young age. Once my mom turned 18 she had to fight for her siblings. Her American Dream was to get out of poverty and provide for her family without having financial issues. She dreamed of her kids having a future ahead of themselves and being someone big in life. She say's as long as her kids are successful and in a good place in life, her dream was accomplished. My mom's American Dream might have not meant anything to others but it made her who she is today, a strong, independent, and hardworking women who would give up the world for her kids.

This is a reference to my thesis because Reyna's dream was to go to the United States and go to school and be the first from her siblings to accomplish something big. Reyna reveals that no matter how hard life is dragging you down there is always light at the end of the tunnel you just got to be strong and push forward.

This article supports my thesis because it is explaining most immigrants American Dream which is to get an education and live a life where you don't have to hide in the shadows. Each immigrant has their own American Dream but they are each similar in a way. This article is stating that each mind wants something different but at the end of the day they are getting the same outcome by coming to the US and starting a new life. It is going to be very difficult to leave everything behind but that is what everyone has to understand they can't start a new life if they bring their old one with them.
