 On March 8, 1908, 15,000 women once again filled the streets of New York to demand a raise in pay, fewer hours of work, the right to vote, and ban child labor under the slogan "Bread and Roses."
 In 1910, an international conference was held in Copenhagen, attended by more than 100 women from 17 different countries. In it, the German Clara Zetkin gives the idea of commemorating a women's day globally.
On March 25, 1911, a tragedy occurred at the Triangle Shirtwaist shirt factory in New York, causing the death of 123 women and 23 men, originating from a badly extinguished cigarette butt thrown into a bucket of cloth scraps. The victims could not escape because the factory managers had closed the stairwell and exit doors to prevent theft
Demonstrating the terrible conditions in which they worked and attention, causing the increase of the movement in support of equality and respect.

Rwanda is one of the little countries where women can walk in the night alone without the fear something bad happened. In 2009 One Stop Centers where created, this centers have the objective to decrease gender violence and abuse, since they have existed gender violence has dicreased by more than 30%.
