1. You can change the genetic makeup of a plant, making it able to thrive in places where it couldn't otherwise.

2. You can make a plant produce something to scare away animals.

1. When mass injecting a population, you run the risk of someone being potentially allergic to the vaccine, or the whole population getting sick.

2. When making genetically modified plants, there runs a risk of the modified and the natural plant cross breeding, making something unpredictable and something we can't control.
