Alice Channer's piece, Lethality and Vulnerability, depicts metal vines growing through an old abandoned building. This relates to my theme of Nature Revolting over Mankind by showing how the vines grow around and through spaces made by humans.

Starting our experimentation with animation, we were tasked with making an animation of a bouncy ball bouncing up and down. After this I attempted to try and make my cat's heads follow the ball but was unsuccessful.

My initial ideas on my storyboard show vines and roots breaking down a building, I created this sequence specifically showing directions and ways the vines and building move and fall.

Brick Lane Trip Photos

During our trip to the Whitechapel Gallery, we walked through brick lane, known for its influential art and cultural significance. I found this alley interesting because it highlights the culture of the area and the colour and variety of what you see changes the original concrete jungle into a cultural point of interest.

The community in and around Brick Lane are exceptionally good at giving the area they live in its own character and colour. The stork painted on this wall completely changes how the wall would've looked before it, making it something nice to look at rather than the usual plain brick wall.

Another piece I saw on the walk which I thought shows the variety of cultural significance within Brick Lane caught my eye. It stands out away from the original mundane brick wall and gives a small story about some of the people and cultures living within Brick Lane.

One of my tree characters reaching around another tree, I wanted it to look slightly disturbing to push the message I want to attach. After sketching the image is ready to be uploaded and image traced.

New Roots Flourish Over Old Stone

Using Photopea at home, I edited my first sketch into a greyscale array of city buildings with vines cutting in and around them, symbolising the growth over the buildings. For the background I used a variety of grey brushes to create an overcast sky. I then made a sentence relevant to my image, tagging it with the "join the nature revolution" motto across my pieces.

The Trees Are Alive

Using my second sketch with my tree character, I threshold edited the image and coloured the blanks and shaded / highlighted areas around the trees. I then created a foggy background using water colour brushes. After this, I used another meaningful sentence "the trees are alive, so treat them like it" to drive in another message. In the bottom, I again added the "join the nature revolution" message that I intended to use in all my pieces.
