The first telephone was inevented by Antonion Muecci in 1849.

How it worked: The needle was connected by wire to the battery, and the battery was connected by wire to a receiver. When Bell spoke into the open end of the drumlike device, his voice made the paper and needle vibrate. The vibrations were then converted into an electric current which travelled along the wire to the receiver.

The Motorola DynaTac 8000X was similar to the phones we use today. It was the first handheld phone ever and was released in 1973 by the brand 'Motorola'. It had a call button where you could call people but you had to memorize their phone numbers. You could also text people but it costed 5 pence (5 cents) in the UK. The numbers also had letter but it was quite tricky to write so alot of young teens abbreviated. E.G: abbrivi8.
