         <description><![CDATA[<div>so far in IB English, my favorite text ive looked at has been AOCs speech regarding Mr yohos remarks towards her. She gives a fresh new perspective on misogynist public figures, she does this by referring to Mr yohos apology where he says ¨i have two daughters and a wife¨, in which he implies that having women in his life makes him exempt from being a  misogynist.  She says that by saying those remarks, hes giving permission to men everywhere to disrespect women like his daughters and wife. I found that this text / perspective showed light on how public figures influence youth with how they treat others. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In the song ¨wesley's theory¨, artist Kendrick Lamar introduces the recurring theme of his life before and after entering the music industry and how he was lured in as a desirable black youth with temptations of fame, power and wealth, But after receiving his end of the bargain Kendrick now sees that this life isn't all it's made out to be, and that his previous love for making it out of the ghetto has turned into a lust.. During the chorus, Lamar uses a lover as a metaphor for his life in the industry. When Lamar compares his life in the industry to ¨his first girlfriend¨, he is suggesting that he had fallen in love with this luxurious life, and had been lusting for fame and wealth prior to having a ¨relationship¨ with the industry, and due to Kendrick growing up in squalor and with hardships, he had never been exposed to the life he has today. So naturally, Kendrick became overwhelmed and ¨in love¨. This new life was his ¨first girlfriend¨. Kendrick builds on this concept of the industry being his first lover further through the lines: ¨At first I did love you, but now I just wanna fuck¨. Kendrick uses this relationship as a metaphor to convey the contrast of how he viewed his luxurious life, compared to how he sees it now. At first Kendrick was excited and overcome with joy to become a success. We know this because in the first verse of the song, Lamar raps through the eyes of his younger, pre fame self. A young Kendrick envions and foreshadows his inevitable success, rapping about his lust for materialistic objects, and that when he gets signed (this refers to getting signed by a record label, essentially the genesis of kendrick's life in the industry), and that when this happens he'll ¨act a fool¨ (acting a fool being a metaphor for happy, or reckless). It's implied from the verse given by young kendrick, that he was very much in love with the idea of this life. However after attaining such things, Kendricks mindset seems to change. Birds eye view in relation to places that were often crowded 
The use of a birds eye view suggest that we are all watching closely as america goes through stay at home orders and the new life the pandemic has brought us
Camera shot:
The distance between the camera and the subject: Extreme-close shot (XCS); close shot (CS), medium shot (MS); long shot (LS); extreme long shot (XLS). Does the camera move or stay still? Is the camera on a dolly? Does it pan? Zoom in or out? What is the length or duration of a shot which influences the pace?
Still images and shots taken  throughout the ad.
The use of still images can suggest that america is standing still amidst the covid pandemic
Diegetic or non-diegetic sound: 
Diegetic: Sounds created by the character, objects or events on the screen, such as dialogue
Non-diegetic: Sounds with an unknown source, added after filming such as music and voice-over
Inspirational, emotional music played in the background
The use of heavy emotional music that suggests that we as a country are facing heavy issues, and many people need to be uplifted and inspired through these difficult times 
Montage:
How all the shots and music are put together. Editing and joining shots to get a particular effect.

         <description><![CDATA[<div>One non literary text I examined from the Nike ad campaign was the Nike ¨play for the world ad¨. The notable parts of this Ad were its use of angles and lightning to persuade the viewer to understand their message.  The features that made this ad effective was the black and white images and still dramatic shots.    I think the directors created it this way in order to further convey their message. I think they succeeded.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Global issue I was able to identify in both the Kendrick Lamar songs and Nike ads was community. Kendrick brings light to this by speaking about his community and how we as individuals are affected by our community and environment, and that we reflect the community around us The Nike ads also made a point about community by conveying their message to vote, telling the audience that their voice matters and can impact your community and world around you.  These contrast because as Kendrick was affected by his communities voice, Nike wants you ti affect your community in a positive way.</div>]]></description>
