Even though many of the founding fathers had their qualms about slavery, none of them were committed enough to stamp it out. For instance, just as mentioned in the 1619 Project, founding fathers such as Alexander Hamilton owned slaves but also espoused values of liberty on paper. For example this week we looked at how Thomas Jefferson described slavery as cruel, and disgraceful.
