         <description><![CDATA[<div>I don't there was meaningful opposition to making slavery legal in the Constitution. Although many delegates didn't agree with slavery, they found that not arguing with the South was more important. This shows how lightly they viewed this clear, horrible human rights violation. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I do not think there were meaningful oppositions from the people in power. While people did express that they thought slavery was wrong, I don't think those oppositions could be considered meaningful because they clearly prioritized making compromises for the south. There were definitely meaningful oppositions coming from African American citizens.</div>]]></description>

It refined both my definition of socialism and the working class. I appreciated learning about critical race theory the most because I had heard of it but never knew the definition.          <description><![CDATA[<div>While I do think the opposition was meaningful, I don't think that it was necessarily valid given the situation nor strong enough for it to be of value. The only opposition-held was that they knew slavery was morally wrong, however, because of the South's threat of secession and the huge role it played within the US economy.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>No. I do not think that there was any meaningful opposition to making slavery legal in the constitution. Even though many of the founding fathers had their qualms about slavery, none of them were committed enough to stamp it out. For instance, just as mentioned in the 1619 Project, founding fathers such as Alexander Hamilton owned slaves but also espoused values of liberty on paper. Opposition from new slave owners made this difficult and ultimately it made slavery an issue that was turned away to be discussed later.</div>]]></description>

Many who tried to show they were against this horrible and clear violation of human rights didn't care enough to stop contributing personally. For example this week we looked at how Thomas Jefferson </sup></mark></strong><strong><em><mark><sup>described slavery as cruel, and disgraceful. He blames King George lll for stripping the right of life and liberty from slaves, yet he still owned slaves himself.
