I chose this picture because i believe it represents not only the importance of plants themselves but also the importance of preserving such a complex structure. Plants have been and will hopefully continue to be fundamental to the evolution of humans. We gain many things from plants that help us live comfortably within our own environments everyday like oxygen, food and shelter. Among humans plants also help sustain other basis of life like animals in some of those same ways as well.

This animation to me is probably as simple as it gets when explaining photosynthesis. I believe even for someone who may not understand the process fully this GIF provides all the necessary components for a individual to grasp the concept. You can see in the diagram that photosynthesis is used by plants to convert carbon dioxide and water into molecules needed for the plant to actually grow. Specifically these molecules may contain enzymes and sugars. The light is being transferred into energy by the chemical, chlorophyll. This will create Carbohydrates which contain elements like carbon, hydrogen and oxygen which are useful to create glucose (sugar).

I chose Gymnosperms and chose to search up examples of conifers native to Georgia, but i found that these can be found in many other states other than Georgia. Thats when I came across treesforme.com which lists a type of conifer (Pine Trees) native to Georgia. They get their information specifically from the database of plants.usda.gov. On treesforme.com you are able to find the binomial nomenclature of each species while also having access to its common name. Along with pictures of each individual species, you can also find what region they grow on and what type of soil will grow a healthy conifer. There is a bunch of useful information on this website, be sure to click the link below and check it out for yourself. http://www.treesforme.com/ga_pinus.html

I Believe the tropical rain forest is one of the most worlds biomes in danger for two reasons. The first one is the water. They are threatened today by erosion from deforestation, poisoning from oil ,chemical spills and over fishing. The damages from the deterioration of these waters do not only affect the tropical rain forest it started in, its actually inflicting damage on the global economy, the environment, and local people who use these waterways. This is why i believe in the future the tropical rain forest is one of the few that are in danger of ecological change.

The First Agricultural revolution is significant because, humans transitioned from hunter-gatherers to larger, agricultural settlements. With the transition came new inventions like plant domestication, which is a process by which farmers select for desirable traits by breeding successful generations of food crop. Live stock fits into this as well because the first livestock were also domesticated from animals that Neolithic humans hunted for meat. i believe both of these impacted humans in a positive way by offering more of a means of survival for humans developing in a certain region or society.

I chose the seed drill because i believe its both an invention as well as innovation. Before the occurring of the second Agricultural Revolution Farmers were just throwing seeds into the ground than packing soil on top of it. By bringing the drill as well as animal labor into the mix, farmers were able to produce more food by using the animals to pull the weight while the seed drill itself helped properly plant them as well as break up the dirt in a way to allow oxygen and moisture into the soil and seed. This invention i believe spread throughout the world through trade and meeting new people. This allowed everyone to become more efficient farmers in their specific regions.

For my most influential chemical, i chose Aspirin. For many different reasons, but most importantly because that someone we know has needed this or used this for migraines or some sort of pain relief. The actual chemical inside is Salicylic acid and it was founded by Hippocrates because of its powers to "alleviated the symptoms of aches, pains and fevers." After Edward Stone at Oxford in 1763, isolated the active ingredient, we now see it everywhere. From doctors offices to any supermarket or department store. its most peoples go to product vs going into a hospital to treat those symptoms. with this finding being so wide spread and such a household item in todays society thats why i believe it is todays most influential chemical.
https://www.theenglishgarden.co.uk/plants/5-drugs-derived-from-plants/

I believe if present day agricultural, economic, social, and political practices go unchecked it will leave us in harms way in the upcoming future. Simply because we will continue to lose things that we need like land space to grow crops, opportunity/money to start, or bring back businesses into certain areas and the system of checks and balances to make sure that political parties are trying to offer the best way for civilization to continue to improve. These are topics that change drastically as the world changes and if we neglect these things i believe we will look like another example of a third world country. Run down, depleted and in some parts forgotten about. If the United States wants to stay away from looking like how I envision i believe we must continue to develop improvements and change policies as the world changes which is a challenge in itself, but it is possible.
