The penguin has grit and a dream to fly. Just when he feels like giving up and like no one believes in him, his teacher and friends show empathy toward him and help him achieve his goal. This book is great in showing the power of empathy and growth in emotional self awareness. Lacey would not stop talking in any setting, disregarding how others felt around her, not allowing others to talk, and not creating a safe space for listening an sharing. But when her voice was silenced, she was forced to truly listen to her friends and more effectively participate in activities, without distracting herself with talking. She learned new things about her friends, got a gold star of focusing on her work, and was able to spend time with her brother quietly watching a movie.

2. This book is so beautiful! It shows that it's okay to talk and share, but it is also important to stop and listen. I would use this book to teach how controlling our own emotions allows for more connections, learning, and growth in emotional self awareness. I also like the ripple activity that they do at the end of the book.
