Cultural Heritage is the mirror of the way in which human beings live. It tells us the story of a Country and its people (history, monuments, traditions, landscapes, literature, but also cooking recipes, habits, music). We must respect it and educate everyone to preserve it since we are children, firstly by families and secondly by school. In my opinion, respecting ideas of the others is the first step. We must try to learn from other cultures, share and promote the places that make up our history, our customs and enrich each other. We must learn to be responsible and alert people to try and save this priceless treasure.

In my school Cultural Heritage is included in the curriculum, in subjects such as Art, History, Geoghaphy, English, Literature. Students learn to create guided tour. This year they are involved in two projects: "Erasmus+_Career - based opportunities" and "Erasmus+_ Think critically - Act wisely". Moreover they took part in a project “WebTrotter – Around the World in 80 minutes” .

The Learning Scenario

The lesson plan is divided into 10 different sections:

Title of the activity: The two warriors coming from the sea – Riace Bronzes
Description with the main ideas of the activity:

The Art Teacher will give her/his students materials about Riace Bronzes’ archaeological finding, Bronzes’ description and analysis, and their hypothetical identity. They will speak about the sculptural technique of lost-wax casting giving some examples. The Art Teacher will introduce to the students some information about the National Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia in Reggio Calabria;

The Art Teacher will coordinate and follow the students in their lab activities (creative reproduction of the two bronzes how the students prefer, even using digital tools). During the visit to the museum, Art teacher will be a simple tourist and the students will be the guides who will introduce to her/him the two bronzes.

The History Teacher will give the students materials about the historical period, from which bronzes seem to arrive, and will reference on the tragedy "The seven against Thebes" by Aeschylus and the Epigones.

Together with the Computer Lab Teacher who follow and coordinate them in The Computer Lab the students will look for materials on the Europeana platform, create a slideshow about the visit to the museum, create a brochure about the museum and, in particular, the two Riace Bronzes, and the final outcome will be the creation of a digital presentation to promote the Cultural Heritage.

The aim of the scenario is a digital presentation for the promotion, protection, restoration and preservation of historical-artistic heritage in order to entrust it to future generations and sensitize the promotion.

Students will:

- search, study and analyse an important example of classical bronze statuary;

- visit the National Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia in Reggio Calabria where they can admire the two Riace Bronzes;

- study the sculptural technique of lost-wax casting, analyze and describe the two sculptures, reporting the hypotheses on their identification, in particular, the reference to the tragedy "The seven against Thebes" by Aeschylus and the Epigones;

- reproduce the statues with the techniques they prefer, even with digital tools.

- reflect about the archaeological finding, the restoration, the conservation and, more generally, on the meaning of Cultural Heritage, on the role of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and of the Superintendencies.

Teacher's role (what the teacher will be doing during this activity):

The Art Teacher will: -   give her/his students materials about Riace Bronzes’ archaeological finding, their datation and the pre-classical age, Bronzes’ description, analysis and their hypothetical identity; -   speak about the sculptural technique of lost-wax casting, giving some examples, such as Zeus of Artemision and the Delphos Auriga's;-   introduce to the students some information about the National Archaeological Museum of Magna Graecia in Reggio Calabria;-   during the lesson in Art Lab, coordinate and follow the students in their lab activities: creative reproduction of the two bronzes how the students prefer, even using digital tools such as Vangoyourself, Thinglink;-   during the visit to the museum, be a simple tourist and students will be the guides who will introduce to her/him the two bronzes.The History Teacher will:-   give her/his students materials about the historical period, from which bronzes seem to arrive, and reference on the tragedy "The seven against Thebes" by Aeschylus and the Epigones. Europeana Collection gives us a lot of ideas and tips for very interesting and particularly accurated lessons. I think I will use photography and art collection for my learning scenario and in particular those of the two warrior bronzes. My students will start from their description and sculptural technique, their wonderful archaeological find and so on, till the role of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.

Title: Messages of the Monumentals - How to discover when monuments, memorials or museums censor the past.

Explanation:

This activity will concern the Arts and Computer Science: the aspects related to the monument will be examined in depth and a digital presentation will illustrate the work carried out. Interdisciplinary links with the History and Italian subjects are foreseen.

Students will be divided into two or more groups. Each group will choose a monument of the city that recalls the victims linked to a historical event. Later they will do a research related to the historical period, its literary and artistic production, in particular to the chosen monument that represents it, together with the message that the author wants to transmit.

In my classroom we use Project-Based Learning, and I think it’s very interesting because  students learn to be collaborative and cooperative. Moreover they also learn to manage resources, materials and time. Students are the protagonists: they have to confront each other, find solutions, make decisions. All this emphasizes their abilities, consolidates their skills and makes them aware of how important teamwork is. For example, we have made a project regarding the choice of the most convenient current account among those proposed by three banks. After an investigation, a careful analysis, a comparison and the processing of data and all the material, the students created a digital presentation with which they explain why and how they came to their decision. Regarding the Augmented Reality, I've never used it in my classroom, we've been following a course about  the use of technology in a augmented reality, I hope that in the future we can do it.

Before using Collaborative Learning it is necessary to create a right envirnoment, to promote social skills with specific activities so that students manage conflicts and learn to communicate in a correct way. We should lead students to take on roles based on their strengths and their pre-eminent skills, mixing weak and capable (tutoring), preparing samples of collaborative activities connected to engaging extracurricular activities.
