28th September, 2022

In chapter 1 of 'Born A Crime', I think there is only one part that can relate to my own experience. When he was in the black church, he felt bored and wanna escape from it. It's quite similar to my experience, my mom also took me to the church when I just came to Singapore, but I always find it quite boring and try to escape the next time.
The part that surprised me the most are the bus driver. I couldn't believe that the bus driver wanna kill them just because they are from different tribes and her child was half-breed. This let me feel it was really unsafe at that time. But thankfully, the family escaped from the bus.

6th October, 2022

In chapter 2, Trevor Noah explain his experience living in South Africa during the apartheid. His mother and him had to live in constant state of fear because Trevor was mix blood of a black woman and a white man.
“To this day, you can leave me alone for hours and I’m perfectly happy entertaining myself. I have to remember to be with people.” It's quite hard for Trevor living as a mixed child，he have to stay at home while other children are playing outside because he is half breed, which is illegal. This is a sad thing for a little kid, nothing can stop me to play with my friends when I was young, I couldn't imagine what it will be like if I'm Trevor.

13th October, 2022

In chapter 3, Trevor makes a decision to avoid getting wet by rain. So, he poops in the house, then wraps it in newspaper and hides it in a rubbish ban. After this, he hoping there is no one will notice his actions. However, his mother found it and his mother believe that it was an omen of a curse. Trevor's mother called others for a prayer to ward off the witchcraft. This is part of the believes at South Africa at that time.

26th October, 2022

At the beginning of this chapter, Trevor beaks his cousin's eardrum and his grandmother hit everyone except him. His grandmother said she doesn't know how to hit a white kid, which makes Trevor's life much easier at home. Even white people think Trevor is colored but he is still a white kid among black kids.
Trevor believes language is a good thing to cancel racism. So, he learned multiple languages. if someone speaks to him in Zulu, he responds in Zulu. If they speak to him in Xhosa, he responds in Xhosa.
I have a similar experience to Trevor because when I was in China I speak Chinese. If I back to my hometown, I speak the dialect. But I'm in Singapore now, so I speak English. English will also help us to get closer in school due to we are speaking the same language, although we are come from different country.
