         <description><![CDATA[<div>They ate porridge which was boiled with corn in it ontop of fire.<br>They ate stew with salty meat.<br>They used a pot that could hold up to 280L of water.<br>They ate veggies, Cabbage, onion and potato.<br>Every person has the same amount of food.<br>They also ate mutton stew.<br>450 grams of salted meat.<br>If they were lucky they could eat stale bread.<br>Food also got stolen by the cooks or storekeepers.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>There were more than 200 rules that the convicts that lived in barracks had to follow.<br>The Barracks had 10 solitary confinement cells. The cells were small and had no light in them.<br>Convicts fear being locked in these cells because of darkness and because it was lonely and dark. They could be locked in there for up to  three weeks!!!</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Many convicts suffered from diseases such as, scurvy, typhus, necks to the head and all over the body, they could of possibly got brain damage, broken limbs and many other very serious injuries.<br><br>Scurvy was a common illness and was caused by not enough fresh fruit or vegetables.<br><br>In  January 1829, someone reported that 16 convicts on the harbour had scurvy, they were too weak to walk so they to transported to hospital in hospital carts.<br><br>harsh treatment caused the convicts to get severe injuries.<br><br>the hospitals were crowded with rooms meant for 20 people had 80 people in them!<br><br>You may of thought that it was very dangerous in the ship, but it was very safe besides fro scurvy, typhus and blindness.!<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>- In the colony using flash words was a very good way to communicate with each other. eg. talking about an escape plan without the authorities knowing. <br><br>- In 1812 a convict named James Hardy recorded a long list of flash words. <br><br>- Because flash language was sooo secret, if the authorities found out about a flashsword, a new word would be created to replace that word. <br><br>- Not all convicts were familiar with this language. <br><br>- Flash language is the language of thieves, or the low Londeneres.<br><br>- Most of the words James Hardy collected have already been made in London. <br><br>- The convicts created their own slang language. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The clothes were called slops because they were often too big for the men.<br><br>Most clothes had government stamps on them. <br><br>People made belts out of recycled materials to hold up their pants because they were often oversized clothing.<br><br>The men were allowed to keep their own uniform. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>*Skilled Convicts spent time weaving cabbage tree hats using leaves they collected from the cabbage tree palm to entertain themselves<br><br>*To entertain themselves,the played games, told stories, recital poetry, compared tattoos or juggled.<br><br>*At times, groups of men may have sung songs or Ballads that reminded them of home.<br><br>*They have A hour of free time after their name gets ticked off.<br><br>*Before they go to bed then go in the yard and they sometimes smoke clay.<br><br>*Gambling was forbidden at the the barrakates and convicts caught gambling could end up in a solitary confinement cell.<br><br>*Some games the convicts played were: Chess, Draughts, Cards, Nine men's morris, tic tac toe, shell game and pitch and toss.<br><br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
