When the word “village” first comes to mind, we imagine a lush green field and unpolluted environment, and this is the exact scenario in Indian villages. They learn to share and care from a very young age, which comes from the concept of joint families. The majority of India’s population depends on agriculture, as India is an agricultural country. Agriculture is both practiced as a commercial activity and for self-sustenance. The life in the community is a lot different than the urban lifestyle. The financial conditions of the farmers are not that good, and they do not have access to advanced tools, which makes farming a tough job for them.

People in villages lead a very ordinary life with almost no luxury, but they are happy with their limited resources. The locals live in “kuccha” houses or temporary houses, made up of mud or clay, which has thatched roofs made out of straws or burnt clay tiles. The infrastructure is not that good in the villages; there might be just one or two schools and hospitals in the whole village. The literacy rate in villages is also very less due to this fact.

Villages in India differ in their physical as well as social characteristics along the length and breadth of the nation. My view of a village is based on the southern part of India since I'm a native of this part.
• A village should have field crops mostly in green colour.
• A village has a slightly humid and vivid climate when compared to urban areas throughout the year.
• A village may not have a properly functioning PHC or a good hospital for an emergency.
• A village has an active place where people use to gather around and share the local news. It may be a local tea shop or a local library.
• A village may look gloomy after the sunset.
•Regional and religious festivals are celebrated much more in an ethnic way in villages.
• Village has houses made with the ancient method(i.e.with extensive use of mud and wood)

It will have cottages with sufficient light and ventilation built of a material obtainable within a radius of five miles of it.
Life in the village area is enjoyable and peaceful. Villages have a natural beauty to them, and they are simple yet beautiful.

Ragi is cultivated on a variety of soils ranging from rich loam to poor shallow upland soils. It can be grown in soils with pH of 4.5-7.5. Tank silt is applied to the soil just before the rain begins and soon after the land is ploughed thrice to incorporate weeds in the soil. Ragi may be grown as a hot weather crop, from May to September, using long duration varieties and as a cold season crop, from November and December, using early types. Ragi is monocropped in India under irrigation or transplantation.

secondly in our village they grow coconut plant On fertile soil, a tall coconut palm tree can yield up to 75 fruits per year, but more often yields less than 30. Given proper care and growing conditions, coconut palms produce their first fruit in six to ten years, taking 15 to 20 years to reach peak production. The coconut palm is referred to as 'Kalpavriksha' - the 'tree of heaven' as each and every part of the palm is useful to mankind in one way or other. It provides food, drink, fuel and timber. Millions of families in India depend on coconut for their livelihood either directly or indirectly India ranks third in area and production of coconut in the world. The four southern states viz . Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh are the major coconut producing states in India accounting for more than 90 per cent of area and production. There is a great scope for enhancing the productivity of coconut through adoption of scientific cultivation technologies, which are described here under.
