"Dad said public school was a ploy by the Government to lead children away from God. "I may as well surrender my kids to the devil himself" he said, "as send them down the road to that school". This quotation shows that her dad was a really religious man and isolated his children throughout their childhood because of those beliefs. - Brianna Tran

An internal conflict about the character is probably how she grew up being so isolated from the world because of family beliefs and not living a life that a lot of others usually do. So when she started to become more independent in life of course there were problems because she had to learn about the way society worked on her own while also finding herself and discovering a world beyond what her childhood was like. - Brianna Tran

The internal conflict is that the author grew up in a isolated family. Growing up she didn't get the education that she wanted due to her parents and their beliefs. The quote " Dad said public school was a ploy by the Government to lead children away from god" tells how she wasn't able to get educated due to her parents beliefs and had problems while growing up because of all that.
