Source 1:tells me that many people were interviewed just to find out whether they were anti-Japanese or not and some were there for a 3 days or a week as during this time period the locals of Singapore had realized not to rely on the government and some of them had learned some newfound responsibility that they had to do them self .This tells me that during the british was in charge the locals rely on the government and do whatever they tell them to do.
Source 2: tells me that the Japanese forced some teenagers to quit school to attend Japanese one instead as this may bring a lot of arrangement to the child as he/she has to buy new school stuff which can be expensive the Japanese also did not care whether you were famished or not as some was so hungry that their ribs were showing up some even starved to death too.
When the british was in charge people were not that famished till they had to eat things they never imagine they had to
Source 3 tells me that: the Japanese did not care how far you walk as different items were distributed at different places some could be at the east or the west kerosene and the Japanese provided not so much of food that the Civilians had to find alternative ways to survive like planting sweet potato.
When the British was in charge people did not had to cover far distances to get everyday items and food ration and no one was at the brim of planting sweet potato
Source 4: tells me that the Japanese only cared for themselves as everyday food rationing was decreased and decreased same as everyday items this tells me that the Japanese were becoming greedy as they use the extra rice for themselves not caring what happens to the locals of Singapore.
Source 5: tells me that the Japanese wanted to be praised for everything they are doing as if you ever cross a Japanese soldier you have to bow to them as if you do not bow to them you will be slapped or beaten or worse killed and during the Japanese occupation fear were being prevailed and violence to the locals as during the earlier period women were being raped and looters head were being displayed on areas and babies being senselessly bayoneted for no real reason as the British do not need self praise just to work.

Before the Japanese Occupation there was no Japanese language taught in school. All races have to study their subjects in their own languages. During Japanese Occupation, Japanese language is taught in schools in Singapore.
As a result, Source 1 tells me that "there is indian and malay student trying to write Japanese language as there is a change in the education system". Thus, it shows that the teenagers were forced to switch their own language to japanese.
Source 2 tells me that "the japanese have tried to influence the people in singapore as in by taking over locals newspaper and show a daily column of numbers in japanese language''.
Source 2 also supports the point as it shows " libaries were stocked up on books about Japan and its culture". With only books with Japanese language, the people in singapore, especially those who often went to the library, read and borrow books, were forced to read japanese books. Thus, it shows that the people who like to read books have to read the japanese books.
Source 3 tells me that "A school's yearbook is shown about teenagers learning about Japanese art". Source 3 also supports the point as it shows the picture inside the yearbook, teenager students learn how to scrape on the drawing board. Because of the Japanese Occupation, the teenager students have to learn the japanese culture.
Source 4 tells me that "the teachers tell the teenagers to write a dairy or a reflection about what they did for the day".
Source 4 also supports the point that the teachers wanted the teenagers to have discpline. The teachers have to teach the teenagers discpline and by that, they needed to buy a dairy to reflect on what they did.
Source 5 tells me that " the Japanese tried to show their good inside them and not from the people's perspective of the dark to the Japanese".
Source 5 also supports the point that the teachers tried to encourage the students to buy the Japanese comics to read (highlighted with the kindness of japanese) through comics tto show them(the Japanese) that they are not bad guys.

Before the Japanese occupation, there was no food shortage but during the Japanese occupation there was a food shortage as the Japanese took most of the food for themselves hence leaving little for the people.
Source 1 tells me that teenagers had to pluck fruits for their family or else, their family would have nothing to eat. Hence, there was a food shortage and people were encouraged to grow their own food. This has change the way that people live.
Source 2 tells me that when the British were
in control, all teenagers that were attending school had to learn the English language. But, when the Japanese took over Singapore, all teenagers had to stop learning English and had no choice but to learn Japanese.
Source 3 tells me that teenagers had live in fear of their live as they had to attend Operation Sook Ching which can killed many innocent adults. This source also tells us that young children could have also lost their parents in the operation.
Source 4 tells me that people had suffered from malnutrition as the Japanese did not provide enough food for the locals thus, thus led to malnutrition and other diseases. This source also tells us that the Japanese did not treat the people well by not providing food and a good environment for the locals to live in thus,a lot of diseases broke out within the locals resulting in many death.
Source 5 tells me that people could not live happily as the Kempati made the people live in fear by making the locals bow at them or be beaten and abused by them. This source also tells me that the Japanese have no proper law or order as they did not treat the people fairly as they used fear to rule the people and not listening to the locals and also killing innocent people such as Operation Sook Ching.
