I don't know if it is just because I have it in front of me but Julia has found a nice template that is direct, brief and easy to read. It also picked out 4 or 5 key aspects of roles rather than everything (and you could pick out the ones most relevant to the role under recruitment)

On looking through recent others they share the same characteristics as Julia's template:you could try this one: Professional profile
eg An experienced manager and librarian with over XX years experience in academic libraries; committed to excellent customer service or xx; high emotional intelligence (or whatever you want to highlight from past surveys or assessments); strength in models of reference service or XX
linkedin profile xxxxxx
Career Highlights
maybe 4 dot points
Key areas of expertise
dot points under eachLibrary specificManagementCommunication
Professional/Career experience(I prefer Professional)
PlaceRole & duration
dot points re main aspects (responsibilities and achievements)(probably list no more than last 3-4 jobs with some detail then list others with key responsibilities if not clear from job title)
Education and TrainingProfessional membership/Accreditation, and awards/Conference presentation, publications
I find a change in font size & type helps me to scan and read better and most people respond well to a clean, slick layout that will also print out easily (not too fussy). Short and sweet is good but you don't want to be too short! at your level no more than 4 pages - because the KSC responses are elaborations on your experience and knowledge as well.if you want to see print copies let me know - but do you think this has helped?

- Liked the formatting.
- Career statement and professional interests a good idea, but needs to be briefer. Also my interest in 'information literacy' should be broadened out to digital literacy
- Work History
Current role not necessary to include Business Swanston merge statement. Role description too busy [block text]. Break up Responsibilities and Achievements (2 or 3).
- Reorganise some statements to include the task or action first in the sentence. Keywords should be dynamic and link back to the position you are applying for.
- Staff Development and Liaison secondments could be included in 'Achievements' for HEW 6 and HEW 5 role, instead of separate entries.
-Mentioning secondments is good.
- HEW 5 role, earlier roles should have briefer space.
- Professional Associations - re-organise formatting.
- Article and Presentations - important. Should this have more prominence?

- In my manager's opinion, 2 pages is a good size for a cv for a Hew 5 or 6 position.
- I was advised to add more formatting, that simple is good but a little formating (ie simple border?) will make it look more professional.
- I was also advised that it wouldn't hurt to add a small amount of colour to grab attention, as long as it is only a tiny amount (I don't think this is standard advice, though?).
- I was advised to make some small changes to the job history section to emphasise career development and progression (ie. my last two positions were both "Library office", need to emphasise that I have had more responsibilities etc over time).
- Job history should include specific projects/ achievements rather than just tasks.
- He told me to make sure my name was clear on each page of the application, in a decent sized header rather than a small footnote.
