Tot i que la meva familia no tenía tradició musical, jo, vaig mostrar un viu i potent interés en la música, i vaig formar part de l'orquestra del meu institut, tocant diferents instruments de vent, i molt després, la guitarra. Poc després vaig coneixer a Bradford Craig,  lletrista d'alguns grans projectes, i em va proposar treballar en la orquestració d'una pel·lícula.
