A very obvious advantage of technology is that it saves time. As we are able to complete a task in lesser time, we can utilize the time saved for other important activities. With the help of technology a lot of activities such as cooking, cleaning, working, commuting are accomplished faster.

In earlier times, communicating with a person belonging to a different part of the world was difficult. Think about it! Implementing AI to detect cyber-attack is still at an early stage, but with advancement in technology, one can expect to prevent it. Hence the chances of getting a cyber-attack are reduced.  

With each passing day, we are becoming more and more dependent on technology for almost every task without even realizing it. A common example of this is using a cab service. Another example is using GPS to know the directions of any desired location. A lot of people today do not bother learning or memorizing directions because they depend on Google Maps for it. In a lot of ways, that’s not a good path we’re going down!

Although technology is already a part of many people’s lives, there are still some people out there who cannot afford some technologies. The biggest disadvantage of technology is that all are machine driven. And a minor lapse in the functioning can create a situation that cannot be controlled. So, a minor malfunction may cause a complete failure which can cost a human life as well.

The rise of corona virus has caused the sales of sanitizers to increase as the demand for it quadrupled and an increase in the overall growth of 16x from December 2019 to March 2020.  People prefer hand sanitizers to prevent infectious diseases and it is very convenient when you are in a scenario where there is no soap and water. WHO says that using sanitizer is as effective as using soap and water and in fact is faster to use. However overuse of the product can lead to killing good bacteria.

Sanitizer has alcohol in it that can kill germs and bacteria and for that no one can argue its effectiveness. Sanitizers can help in both school and work environments as it can help reduce sick days and prevent the spreading of viruses. Sanitizers are very accessible if you are on the go without soap and water. You can store them for years and they are very compact. It has a very long shelf live that can last for 2-3 years. Small sanitizers bottles can last for a few weeks, while large bottles can last months. So they are inexpensive and affordable.

Sanitizer’s Cons 

However it is important to make sanitizers with the right amount of alcohol for it to be effective in killing viruses and bacteria. Sanitizers should have 60-90% of alcohol and you should be careful when buying different brands and so make sure to read the label. Sanitizers are effective on germs but is is not a substitute for soap and water. Sanitizer will not remove any bodily fluids, dirt, grease or blood but it will just spread it on your hand. If you keep on using sanitizer it will kill the good and bad bacteria and it may cause you immunity to germs to  weaken. That is why the Food and Drug Administration says to not use sanitizer as a substitute to hand washing.
