In today's society, we live in a "I am right and you are wrong" type of world. This is not a matter of being correct, this is a matter of being better than the next person. The world we live in is one that promotes our own social class, wealth, culture, race, and more. We are becoming a very prideful society.

 Envy is very similar to a parasite. Out of all the deadly sins, envy is the most destructive. Today's people are pushed or motivated by unhappiness. Social media has became a way for people to flaunt their wealth or success. Even though someone may not need something, to see other people with it fills envious spirits with hate.

Modern Society: 
America as a whole is responsible for this sin, by not placing enough value on life's simplicities. A few examples of this are when people leave the water running while brushing their teeth, when people throw away leftovers, or when people stuff down mountains of food. This is all gluttony.

Modern Society  
In my personal opinion, lust is the most practiced sin in today's society. Many have become blinded to what love actually is and replaced these ideas with lust. Unfortunately, rape has become part of the culture and the second leading cause for divorce is adultery. Sex appeal is used more than ever in advertisements. Lust has also taken over the media in books, television shows, movies and more. People have grown to love lust which has never and will never be love.

Typically when wrath comes to mind it is associated with physical acts but can also be encouraging someone to hurt another. In today's society, people wear their heart on their sleeve and one person's comment can easily offend a large group of people. It is easy misunderstands or miscommunications like this that will eventually cause the new war.

There is no sin in wanting things like money and power. This desire becomes a sin when someone focuses on acquiring these items more than anything else without any intentions of sharing. The interesting thing about greed is that people who are wealthy or powerful are more likely to be greedy than someone who is poor. If money is all someone cares about no amount of money will satisfy them. If having power is all someone cares about then no amount of power will satisfy them. It is a continuous cycle that will eventually become destructive.

Sloth in a modern society would be not taking action in your own community. The main example of slothing would be taking part in bullying.
