The protest was on March 12 1930, it was a 24 - day non - violent march with Gandhiji in Charge. Gandhiji did his historical walk from Sabarmati Ashram Ahmedabad in Gujarat Ahemad and reached the town of Dandi in the costal area. To protest on the taxes on salt gandhiji requested people to males their own salt instead of paying a lot for it.
