Following district policy is always a must when making administrative decisions. District policy regarding aspects of the community are especially important to follow as policy protects the district from any legal concerns regarding community relations.
DPS asks that any public gifts more that $5000 be approved by the board. The donations of teaching and student supplies would need to approved by the board prior to acceptance of gifts. This would be an important policy to follow as it protects the district from any legal concerns as well as professional bias.
