The United States was looking for new land and inherited Texas along with their dispute with the Mexican Border, which led to war. The United States win the war which ended with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidlago, giving the US over 500,000 miles in territory.

The French and Indian War, also known as the seven years war,was fought between the British colonies and New France. The two country's were fighting over territory in the Americas. The British would go on to win this war which change the Americas forever. The war would cause a major expansion of British territory, on the other hand the country would be placed under heavy financial burden. the war generated substantial resenment towards the colonists among English leaders, who were not satisfied with the financial and military help they had received from the colonists during the war. This would lead to early ideas of unity against mother England, which would lead to the revolu-tionary war.

The two major sides of the American Revolution was between America, and Great Britain. There was many important battles during this time, and events, including the battle of Saratoga that was a major victory for the colonies; showed that they had a chance to win, and got France to join their cause. A important event was on 1783 when the British sign the treaty of Paris officially recognizing the United States as its own Country. The most Important General at this time period was Washington who fought and lead the U.S. General Cornwallis surrenders to George Washington marking the defeat of Great Britain, and ending the American Revolution. United States won, and this is significant for many reasons, but most importantly it gave us our independence.

The Spanish American War was fought between the U.S. and Spain. The major cause was for the war was the explosion of the "USS Maine" battle ship, on February 15, 1898. The ship at the time of explosion was anchored in a Cuban harbor. Due to the fact that Cuba was controlled by Spain newspapers blamed the Spanish, and demanded for war. This war would be fought in parts of Cuba ,Guam, and the Philippians. During this war future president Theodore Roosevelt would lead the rough riders, a group of volunteer soldiers, into battle. After three months the U.S. would defeat the Spanish in both Cuba and the Philippians. From this war the United States would gain the Philippians.

The Civil War was fought in about 10,000 locations, from Valverde, New Mexico, and Tullahoma, Tennessee, to St. Albans, Vermont, and Fernandina on the Florida coast. More than 3 million Americans fought in it, and over 620,000 men (2 percent of the population) died in it. It was the beginning of a new political and economic system, the beginning of big industry, big business, as well as big government. It was the first modern war and, for Americans, the costliest. The Civil War caused more American fatalities and suffering than any previous American war. There were more U.S. casualties in the Civil War than WWI and WWII combined. Thanks to modern technology and old tactics, troops were slaughtered by the thousands. At the Battle Of Cold Harbor in Virginia, over 7,000 Americans fell in less than twenty minutes.
