         <description><![CDATA[<div>John D. Rockefeller was born in Richford, New York on July 8, 1839. From a young age he was interested in business, selling candy and raising turkeys.  His first real job was working as a office clerk at a Cleveland commission firm. Later, he established his own commissioning firm with a partner. He entered the oil industry by making an investment in one of the earliest refineries in the US. He founded Standard Oil Company and became the richest man ever. He married Laura Spelman in 1864, and they had four daughters and one son.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rockefeller was a huge part of the oil industry. At its peak Rockefeller's company Standard Oil Company controlled 90% of America's refineries and pipelines. The oil business started to boom soon after Rockefeller invested as the demand for kerosine and oil increased. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1863 Rockefeller opened his first oil refinery in Cleveland. Within 2 years the refinery had become the largest in Cleveland. Rockefeller then formed the Standard Oil Company. The company monopolized the oil industry by buying out rival refineries and companies. However, Standard Oil was broken up in 1911 after the Supreme Court ruled that that company violated antitrust laws. The company ExxonMobil, a ‘Big Oil’ Organization, is a direct descendant of Standard Oil.</div>]]></description>
