I compared and contrasted Mangondato, Faisal and Robredo, Leni (a name I have not heard of, and one that I always hear of.) Through the rappler resource I realized that values play a huge role to their platforms when it comes to making plans for prosperity.

I decided to do so because she had a good political record and her advocacies aligned with my beliefs. She is a supporter of feminism and constantly has to battle the misogyny of the people and that is something that I relate to and applaud. Upon further research and fact-checking, I am an even bigger supporter. She is a good person and has been serving for almost her whole life. Even before her career as a politician, she would do pro-bono for the underprivileged farmers, fishermen, women and children. I truly believe that she can lead the country well and make a difference in the current issues.

During Arroyos reign she initiated a tight screening, testing and declarations of countries to avoid if traveling. While in Dutertes response, the early sight of covid a lot were slipping through with fake testing transcripts and no declaration of countries to avoid (only seen in the latter half of the early pandemic.) I realized that even if both did not issue travel ban, if we directed more drive and focus on screening foreign arrivals and testing then we probably would have seen a better outcome towards our response to covid-19.

Hello Garci scandal and Arroyo allegedly cheating in the 2004 elections and her eventually "I'm so sorry" live on TV. For some context:
During the 2004 election GMA was in communication with the COMELEC chairman to monitor the race (Which is wrong bc sitting presidents aren't allowed to monitor the race bc of well... cheating). One day, her conversation with Garci (COMELEC chairman) was wiretap and then thats who the scandal became prominent.

Duterte's war on Drugs is a show of human rights violation and how power can be abused against the poor.

The Mendiola Massacre which tainted Cory's public image and the eventual coup attempts against Cory by Juan Ponce Enrile (The most serious one being in 1989)

EDSA the sequel: This happened because Joseph Estrada is a corrupt person. It shows that Pinoy are willing to unite against corruption.

The Duterte's historical events struck me the most because of the EJK, or War on Drugs, happening in his regime and also because of his response to the COVID-19 pandemic. His war on drugs operation killed a lot of innocent people because of unclear protocols and lack of operational orders. If only Duterte banned travel earlier than he did, we wouldn't have had such a large number of cases, but he did not think that COVID was a real thing, so we had a COVID surge during the first wave. Now that I know the truth about it, I will raise this concern to my fellow classmates and citizens so that they know what is happening in Duterte’s presidential term. Doing that without the killing will improve the lives affected and be given a chance to the way they are living. For His COVID-19 response to that promise, he said that he dedicates two years of his term to improving the health sector along with food security, education, and housing projects. By doing those things like improving our health sector our country and communities would be more prepared to handle issues like this pandemic, the doctors, nurses, and other front liners will know what to do and be able to work faster and efficiently. Even if he doesn’t become president the one who will become the president should take into consideration what other candidates will do because I think it can improve their term.

People say that he did this to silence those who rebelled against him but keep in mind, during his rule, the Vietnam war was going on, the Soviet Union influenced the North Vietnamese to be communist while those in the south were being influenced by the United States of America to rebel against Communism and promote Capitalism. This was during the Cold war, after world war two. It involved the two superpowers during that time, the United States of America and the Soviet Union, however, there was no confrontation between both countries, they were just rebelling against each other’s political views, Capitalism and Communism. Why did Marcos implement Martial Law? It was to oppose the spread of communism within the country. Not everyone thinks that though. It is something serious, I understand why not everyone likes the family due to what they have done in the past. Looking at what Marcos did during his political timeline, would I say he was the best or the worst president?
