Modern day Santa Clarita matches this description too. In photos 1,3, and 8 you can see that houses are close together, barely any room between them. Even in Picture 6, in order to use up as much space as possible. The article then mentions that Levittown homes must have pampered and mowed lawns, this is a part of the modern style today too. Pictures 1,3, 7, and 8 all have examples of beautiful yards with short grass. This is to attract not only future buyers but to keep the people living in the neighborhood. Sources have mentioned that the style of the houses include a brick wall on the outside to really make it stand out. This is not the case for most homes in the Santa Clarita area but this is such a minor difference there is no reason to focus on the small things. The houses now have the same square shape, overhanging roof, and overall design (such as the material the houses are made of)just as the ones in the 1950's did. These styles can be seen in Picture 3, the homes are squarish and have the overhanging roof that are very apparent. The article "Modern Ranch House" proves this statement. It states, "Windoes across the rear of room are almost from floor to ceiling and cover most of the wall". This applies to many Santa Clarita homes such as the ones in Picture 3. The living spaces in the photo, residents have long windows that start on the floor and extend towards the ceiling, even stretching the length of the room (the top floor rooms). This is a small detail but most of the homes in Santa Clarita stick with this large and long window style. One of the adjectives used was, "clean". 1950's prided itself on a clean neighborhood in order to attract more people and to give it more of a friendly look. today, this is still the case. Pictures 4 and 5 both show how clean and pristine roads are in Santa Clarita. This look is important today and in the '50's. One other piece of the 1950's Style puzzle is the colorfulness. This wasn't necessarily just the housing but with manicured lawns and cars. The colors made the neighborhoods seem more inviting, as if a diverse crowd (jn terms of personality) lived there. This applies to Santa Clarita too, Sych as in Picture 6 and 7, where the lawns are a ripe green and many plants bloom with purple,yellow, and red flowers. There isn't a neighborhood in Santa Clarita that I could find without some sort fo plant. While they may have not all been the same (the idea of individuality is important to Levittown too!) type of plants but they all bloom together and give the homes a beautiful feeling. This brings up to things that still exist as a part of modern day Santa Clarita. Pictures 9 and 10 both show gorgeous views that are a part of the Snata Clarita charm that many home buyers look for. This applies to Levittowns, where buyers would seek out perfect looking neighborhoods and ones that live a beautiful area. Although, it's important to note in the 1950's, many minorities are kept from buying homes. This applies to modern day Santa Clarita. Santa Clarita isn't as mixed as it would like to believe, schools in the area mostly consist of white students. The artcle, "At 50, Levittown Contends With It's Legacy of Bias" discusses and explains the discrimination and bias in homeowners in the Levittowns. It remarkably describes the neighborhoods with minorities close together and usually isn't mixed in with the white neighborhoods, almost completely segregated. This applies to Santa Clarita too, there are many neughborhoods that just consist of largely one race with no diversity. Levitt mentions, "In fact, I go as far as to say there's no livable old house on the market today that's a genuine bargain". California is well known for its high housing prices, but as the houses within neighborhoods resemble each other more, the less they cost. This may also have to do with location, especially since Los Angeles is a mere drive away. As for the structure of modern Santa Clarita and Levittown housing, Levitt says, "Another wise economy is in the use of wide overhangs on the roof... overhangs eliminate the need for leaders or gutters..." This clearly applies to many of the homes such as the ones in Picture 1 and 2, all overhang and no gutters.
