Apple pies recipes 

1. The kids will use apple pie playdough (made the day prior) to make their crust. 

2. When they are done, they will have to decide the ingredients they will put in their apple pie then they will have to complete the recipe sheet so we know how to re-create their special apple pie. 

Speaking/Role-Play (buying apples by sizes) 

Role- Play: The kids come buy apples by sizes at the Apple Market (they can ask for all big-medium-small apples or a mix of the sizes they want – they need to use their words). They take turns to experience the role of the Apple Orchard worker and the role of the customer. They will use apple bag tickets to start teaching them to concept of paying when buying something.

You model the roles first and teach them the useful words they can use in their play. If it is too easy, a difficulty can be added by asking the kids to order an exact number of big-medium-small apples and the Apple Orchard worker has to count. 

Sorting by sizes -More/less/equal & Weight

1. The kids are picking up apples from the trees (put them in a bag) then sort them by sizes (they each sort their own) then you ask them how many big-medium-small apples they have. You can also ask them who has more/less big-medium-small apples to start working on the more/less concept.

2. Teach the kids how to use the scale- ask them to predict which apple will weigh more/less according to their sizes. They can then experience by adding different sizes combinations on the scale and see what happens. You can also ask them to create combinations that will be equal on each side (same weight). 

 

Apple pie playdough 

The kids will help make apple pie playdough. (Measuring the ingredients, stirring, etc.)
