What did you learn about the topic that most surprised you?

Occupational Hazard is prominent in every country all around the world. What I found most interesting about this topic is the differences when it comes to preventing Occupational Hazard. In North America, Prevention of occupational hazard seems to be more important than in most developing countries. North America focuses on educating Women of all background on their rights, risk, and ways to eliminate Occupational Hazard. This form of education can be in the form of posting Campaigns to bring light to violence or by creating laws that enforce women’s health and Safety. In the developing countries, however, some women take on a dangerous job that does not use safety protective equipment. Since their main focus is to provide for their family by any means necessary, they take jobs such as Rag picker that expose them to various disease. Women’s right in such developing countries are not seen as important therefore, the requirement to educate women on occupational hazard does not exist.

Relate the topic to your life in some way which will likely be a comparison since we live in a different country than those being explored.

As a woman myself who will be entering the working world in a few months, it is very important that I am aware of the occupational hazard that I may face. Occupational Hazard can lead to stress at work or outside of work. If one is educated on the risk, the effect and ways to eliminate occupational hazard it may lead to less stress in the long run. Since Occupational hazard can come in the form of ergonomic, I feel I should prepare myself now in advance. As an Hr Professional, an office type of environment is more common and understand how to maneuver in that environment will be key to success for me. I am privileged to be able to live and work in a society that if focused and prevention and safety when it comes to Occupational Hazards.

Women as a whole are particularly vulnerable because in today’s society women are entering into different types of work occupation such as construction that has never been explored before. In order to ensure the longevity of such occupation, it is important to be aware of the occupational hazard that may arise.
